  1. Day 1

    Peschiera del Garda

You arrive in Peschiera del Garda with the afternoon opening up for you. Walk along Lake Garda's shores or head into town to check out the fortress surrounded by the Mincio river. The 16th century pentagonal walls and ramparts give the place real character, and there's no rush since you can explore it all at your own pace.

  2. Day 2

    Peschiera del Garda to Brescia

Today you're cycling to Brescia with two route options to choose from. The longer, quieter path follows the Mincio cycle path and passes San Martino della Battaglia, where you'll see its distinctive tower from Italy's independence wars. If you want something shorter, the route hugs closer to the lake through Desenzano and Sirmione, which sits as one of Lake Garda's most beautiful spots. Either way, you'll roll into Brescia at the end, a city packed with Roman and medieval ruins and crowned by an ancient castle looking over the whole area.

  3. Day 3

This cycling day is shorter and takes you into Franciacorta wine country. You'll cycle through Rodengo Saiano, home to a Benedictine abbey where monks still live today, and pass near the castles at Passirano and Clusane. The Sebino Nature Reserve sits along your route, a protected area with plenty of water birds to see. By evening you're at Lake Iseo's shores.

The day finishes in Bergamo, and if you arrive early enough, you can check out both the lower town and the upper town accessible by funicular.

You'll pass through Mapello with its Madonna of Prada sanctuary, then reach Sotto il Monte, the birthplace of Pope John XXIII with a museum worth visiting. One of the day's highlights is crossing the Adda river on a cable-pulled ferry that works like Leonardo's designs. You finish by cycling into Garlate along the Adda cycle path.

You'll go through an exciting descent first into the woods, then along a nice road before reaching Como's center and the shores of the lake.

Everything about the group experience was fantastic. Small group of 14 made up of 13 English and 3 Australians plus Rob, our guide. He is engaging and knowledgeable on all aspects of nature, history, local culture and extremely competent in mountain guiding. We were accommodated, organised and entertained by Rob each day on tour. The hotel Adler in Villabassa was comfortable and quiet in a small village atmosphere but had exceptional food. Each dinner was fabulous and food varied to showcase the more Austrian location. We found this a great variation on the cuisine we had been enjoying in other Italian regions prior to our hiking week. The staff there were very friendly and engaging at all times. We made use of all Ammenities including the indoor pool and gym after hiking and on the rest day. The highlight of the hotel experience was the traditional meal in the wine cellar. Fabulous ambience, food and wine. Our family cannot recommend this highly enough. We have just completed the week, starting near the end of September. Whilst still warm on the first day, we had first snow later that week

These 6 days of mountain hikes come with breath taking views. As a collective, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves during the hikes and in our leisure time. I would rate our mountain guide Mike five stars; he was exceptionally knowledgeable and provided great entertainment with various local tales
