Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Kathmandu

    Land at Kathmandu airport where an Asian Heritage Treks & Travel representative will meet you with a nameplate. You'll ride into downtown Kathmandu, passing Pashupatinath Temple, Narayanhity Royal Palace Museum, and the Garden of Dreams on the way to your hotel in the tourist hub. Once you've checked in and settled, the afternoon is yours to walk around Thamel and get familiar with the streets.

  2. Day 2

    Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding

    Flight departs Kathmandu (TIA) heading to Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla, and you'll have views of Mt. Everest and the Himalayan peaks the whole way. After landing in Lukla, your Sherpa crew starts unloading gear while your guide introduces the porters. From there, the trek begins toward Phakding.

  3. Day 3

    Phakding to Namche Bazaar

    After breakfast, you'll trek through pine forests alongside the Dudh Koshi River heading toward Namche Bazaar. Mt. Tamserku (6,608 m) rises on your right, and if weather cooperates, Mt. Everest shows itself over the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge. You'll cross five suspension bridges including the Hillary Bridge (the highest point), then make an uphill push into Namche Bazaar and enter Sagarmatha National Park.

  4. Day 4

    Namche Bazaar

    Today is for acclimatizing in Namche Bazaar, the Sherpa Capital. Before sunrise is optional but gives you views of Mt. Everest, Thamserku, Amadablam, and surrounding peaks with mountain shadows on the clouds. Spend time walking around town and getting to know the Sherpa culture. Try salt-butter tea and champa (barley) at local spots to experience traditional Sherpa food.

    Namche Bazaar to Tengboche

    Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche on one of the tougher days elevation-wise, gaining around 4,000 feet (1,200 meters). But the payoff is big because you're looking at the Everest Mountain Range the whole way and views just keep getting better as you climb.

  6. Day 6

    Tengboche to Dingboche

    Start the morning at Tengboche Monastery, then the trail goes down through evergreen forest to Debuche. You'll cross the Imja River and climb to Pangboche where there's another monastery to visit. After that, descend into the river valley and make your way up to Dingboche.

    Dingboche

    Spend today adjusting to the thinner air by taking a trip to Chhukung Valley through the Imja Khola Valley. You'll see Lhotse's massive south wall and the mountains surrounding the valley. Head back to Dingboche by evening.

    Dingboche to Island Peak Base Camp

    Trek to Island Peak Base Camp on a steep route heading south, then follow winding paths. Walk along a streamside before crisscrossing through Imja and Lhotse glacier moraines to reach the base camp.

  10. Day 10

    Island Peak Base Camp

    After breakfast, you'll get training in peak climbing techniques and gear like ice axe, climbing boots, crampons, harnesses, and ascenders. It's not required, but this preparation helps a lot for your climb.

  11. Day 11

    Island Peak Summit

    Wake around midnight and eat breakfast before starting the Island Peak climb. You need to hit the summit before noon because of possible high winds later. After taking in summit views, you'll descend back down to Island Peak Base Camp.

    Island Peak Base Camp to Pangboche

    Descend through beautiful Sherpa villages of Orsho and Shomare to reach Pangboche. This village sits with Mt. Everest to the north, Amadablam and Thamserku to the east, the Kongde range to the south, and the Imja Tse River running through the valley.

    Lukla to Kathmandu

    Get one last look at the mountains you've been hiking around. The flight back to Kathmandu leaves before 10:00 a.m. (though weather can change timing). Once you land in Kathmandu, a representative will transfer you to your hotel.

    Kathmandu Departure

    An Asian Heritage Treks & Travel representative picks you up and drives you to Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport about three hours before your flight. You'll get help with any additional travel arrangements or advice before heading out.

  • Payment information
    • For any tour departing before February 12th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after February 12th, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with Asian Heritage Treks & Expeditions. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
