Itinerary
- Day 1
Nouakchott to Atar
You'll arrive in Nouakchott and head out on a private 4x4 for the drive to Atar, which takes about 5 hours. After checking into your hotel, you'll have time to rest and recover from travel. Later in the evening, you can walk through the local markets and have traditional Mauritanian cuisine for dinner.

Atar to Oudane
This morning you'll travel north toward Oudane, a small historic desert town roughly 90km from Atar. Along the way, you'll stop to see the Richat Structure, a striking geological formation people call the 'Eye of the Sahara'. You'll spend the night in Oudane at the same accommodation.

Oudane to Chinguetti
After breakfast, you'll head to Chinguetti, one of Mauritania's oldest and best-preserved desert towns. There you can check out the historic mosque and libraries, both recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. You'll stay overnight in Chinguetti.

- Day 4
Chinguetti to Nouadhibou
You'll travel to Nouadhibou, Mauritania's second largest city and a major commercial hub. Once there, you can browse the main market before settling in for the night in Nouadhibou.

Nouadhibou to Arkeiss and Banc d'Arguin
You'll head to Arkeiss, a small settlement located in a national park. From there, you can visit Banc d'Arguin and Cap Tafarit. If you're interested, swimming is available as an optional activity. You'll stay overnight at the camp.

Iwik Island Excursion and Return to Nouakchott
You'll travel to Iwik and take a boat out to visit nearby islands, spending about an hour on the water. From there, you'll return by 4x4 back to Nouakchott.

Nouakchott
You'll spend your final day exploring Nouakchott, the capital city. You can visit the museum, walk through the fish market, and check out the camels market. Then you'll head to the airport for your departure.
