Itinerary
- Day 1
Dakar
Upon arrival in Dakar, you'll be met and taken to your hotel. Your guide will give you an overview of what's coming up during your time in Senegal, covering the main activities and what to bring or know.
- Day 2
Dakar
After breakfast, a guided tour takes you through Dakar's key sites, including the presidential palace and main church along the seafront. You'll walk through Soumbedioune craft market and the Mosque de la Revelation, then check out different neighborhoods showing the city's economic contrasts. The afternoon includes Kermel and Sanfaga markets before climbing the Renaissance Monument (taller than the Statue of Liberty) for city views. The Museum of Black Civilization, Africa's largest, rounds out the day with four floors covering the continent's history. Dinner happens before heading back to your hotel.

Gorée Island
After breakfast, the ferry ride to Goree Island takes about twenty minutes. This UNESCO site features pastel colonial buildings and the House of Slaves, where a curator explains the island's role in the slave trade and the Door of No Return. Following lunch, you'll wander the Town Square and Historical Museum, then explore quiet streets with colorful cottages. The evening involves traveling back to Dakar to see the city after dark before dinner and an overnight stay.

Dakar to Saint Louis
Heading north after breakfast toward Saint Louis, you first reach Pink Lake (Retba Lake), where microorganisms and salt create its unique coloring (though visibility depends on salt production levels). There you can interact with local women harvesting salt and visit their village. From there, Thiès shows off local crafts with discounted baskets, hats, and woven goods. Arrival in Saint Louis happens by late afternoon, and after checking in and having dinner, the Jazz Festival begins this evening.

Saint Louis
After breakfast, a horse carriage takes you through Saint Louis's narrow streets and the Kingdom of the Signars, a 17th-century settlement founded by mixed-race women of African and European descent. The 18th-century governor's palace, an old fortress, is next. Then you head to Nguet Ndar, the fishermen's village between the river and ocean. Following lunch, crossing back over the bridge leads to the main open-air market. Dinner and the Jazz Festival continue into the evening.

Saint Louis
A morning boat trip through the Senegal River reaches the National Bird's Park of Langue de Barbarie, where mangroves, sand dunes, and swamps create excellent opportunities for birdwatching and photography. After returning to Saint Louis, the afternoon is free for relaxing. Dinner and the final Jazz Festival events wrap up the evening.

Saint Louis to Touba to Saly Beach
Today you head to Touba, West Africa's only independent city run by the Mouride Brotherhood (its status is similar to Vatican City). Wearing appropriate clothing, you'll visit key facilities including one of Africa's largest mosques and learn about the founder of Mouridism. Later the drive continues to Saly Beach Resort, where a farewell dinner with folkloric ballet wraps up the formal activities.

Saly Beach
