This 14-day tour covered seven Balkan countries: Serbia, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and Croatia. Our guide, Stefan was the best guide, we've experienced as long time global travellers. He is knowledgeable, articulate and well travelled. Sasha, our bus driver, was also amazing; super friendly, stern with the border control guards, and provided comfortable, safe and clean transport the entire trip. The itinerary had a wide range of interesting activities covering something for every type of person; relaxed free time, beautiful countryside scenery, fantastic centre of town hotels, history, food, wine, art, lakes, mountains, cities, culture galour! The tour had the perfect blend of organised short walking tours, all hotels and breakfast included, mostly half day or less of driving between stops, a couple of 2 night stays and plenty of recommendations provided by Sasha and Stefan of where to eat and what to see during our free time each day. The entire trip was so relaxing, safe, stress free thanks to a well planned itinerary and expert guide and driver, and there was epic amounts of learning about each country and historical connections with each other. Most importantly, the tour was lots of fun and fantastic value for money. We travelled 12 - 25 April - spring time - which was the perfect time of year for this area. We experienced 1 warm day and 1 day of rain. The weather was spot on, everywhere was lush green and throughout spring flowers in the cities and across the country landscapes were picturesque. Almost all the meals were included, the cuisine and the choices were wonderful and accommodations at the hotel and on the cruise ship were beyond my expectations. Our tour group was multinational and the cruise ship seated us together for meals, so we all got to know each other. Because of the cost of living in Egypt, this trip was more than affordable as compared to travel in most other regions. It gave us a chance to learn about an ancient civilization that was far beyond its times in many ways. 1) there are no visa requirements for US passport holders 2) classic package is 2416 EUR per person, while the upgraded package is 2766 EUR per person 3) for meals, you should count on roughly around 30 EUR / per person / per day. Tips are not mandatory, but they are of course, welcomed. That would be absolutely your decision, based on your satisfaction, but let's say anything from 5 EUR / per person / per traveling day is OK. There are no optional excursion offered, pretty much everything is included in the price, except for the dinner in the Bohemian area of Belgrade, called Skadarlija, which is 30 EUR per person 4) You don't have any other expenses that you can expect, except for souvenirs,etc... 5) Approximately 3-4 hours of driving (depending from day to day) followed by a around 2-3 hours of sightseeing. The only exception is day 4, when the tour is moving from Serbia to Bulgaria, there you can expect around 5 hours of driving (not all at once, divided into two 2,5 hours rided, with a stop in Niš in between).

If you book the small-group tour, the only way how to add Kosovo would be that you finish the tour, return to Belgrade, and then we organize you another private tour to Kosovo only, which would take 2-3 days. Another option is that you book a completely customized, private tour, where we would include Kosovo (it can be done as a day trip from Skopje, for example). So, we would need to add an extra day in Skopje, perhaps an extra day in Ohrid (leisure day). Other than that, we believe that the tour is pretty well-rounded and there's no need to add extra days.

From the internet, Sarajevo has day trips to national parks and we would like to do some nature walking/visits (after sitting in a vehicle for close to 2 weeks!).

Unfortunately, we are not able to answer positively to your request. In the past, we were offering that option, that we put people that don't know each other in the same room, and according to our experience, that was not a good idea. The only thing that we could advise is that you check out one of our shorter and more affordable tours (for example Balkan Express) which would fit in your desired budget.

We do not understand why so many nights when we look at the itinerary. Also we have family in Belgrade who would prefer that we stayed with them. Can we negotiate a cheaper price for the package if we take out Belgrade accommodation costs. We are possibly interested in the upgraded accommodations. What is your opinion?

That is correct, there are four nights in Belgrade totally, 3 at the beginning of the tour and one at the end of the tour. We don't have an exact answer why we made it like that, it seemed as a good idea, and our past travelers liked the itinerary as it is, so we kept organizing the tour in this way. Yes, of course we can deduct the price for the price of the accomodation in Belgrade. Before we give you and offer, please confirm that you would stay all the overnights in Belgrade with your relatives ( 3 nights at the beginning of the tour and then one night at the end of the tour). Once we get your answer, we will do the calculations (on Monday) and get back to you with an offer.
