Reviews of Small Group tours to Balkans
- Balkan Revealed - 4 countries in 10 days - SMALL GROUP
Our recent private tour of the Balkans, covering Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, was an unforgettable journey, thanks to the exceptional service and expertise of our tour guide, Uros. Uros’ deep knowledge of the region's history, culture, and hidden gems brought each destination to life in ways we could never have imagined. A special mention must go to Ivana from Victor Tours, who coordinated the entire itinerary flawlessly. Despite us being based in Australia, the communication was seamless, and her meticulous planning ensured that every aspect of our trip was perfect. Ivana’s responsiveness and attention to detail made the entire process stress-free and enjoyable. From the vibrant streets of Sofia and the rich history of Bucharest to the charming landscapes of Belgrade and the poignant beauty of Sarajevo, Uros ensured that every moment was filled with discovery and wonder. His politeness and professionalism were unparalleled, always attentive to our needs and ready to go above and beyond to make our trip seamless and enjoyable. Uros’ ability to connect with everyone on the tour made us feel like we were traveling with a friend rather than a guide. He was always willing to share fascinating stories, recommend the best local spots, and accommodate any special requests we had. This personal touch made our experience truly special and left us with lasting memories. If I had to criticise one aspect of the tour, it would be the hotels. A couple of the hotels, although rated up to four stars, did not fully meet the standards we are accustomed to. However, this is reflective of the regional differences in hotel ratings. To enhance your experience, I would recommend requesting accommodations in very central locations, close to all the shops, restaurants and the centre of town. In summary, our Balkans tour was extraordinary, thanks to Uros’ exceptional guidance and Ivana’s impeccable coordination. If you’re looking for a memorable and enriching travel experience, we highly recommend embarking on a journey with Victor Tours. They will undoubtedly make your trip as amazing as ours was. - Balkan Wonders from Tirana to Istanbul's Splendor and Cappadocia’s landscapes with 3 flights included - Small Group Tour
Very informative and diverse tour. We had the best time and visited many places for a very affordable price. The accommodations and the service were great, and we were especially happy and content that there were flights included so that we didn't have to hassle last minute. It was very well organized.
- Balkan Express: four countries in one week - SMALL GROUP
I was on my first solo trip and had been on numerous other tours but not with Victor Tours therefore I was a little apprehensive. Thankfully they were easy to communicate with and provided comprehensive information about each of the countries we were visiting. The transfers to and from the airport were seamless with great drivers. The first meet up was informative and I appreciated the swag bag. Overall it was an excellent tour and I would highly recommend this company and would book with them again. The hotels were good and well located. I loved all the experiences and Stefan was the best guide I've had. He was so knowledgeable about all the countries, the culture and had great food recommendations for our dinners. The driver was also wonderful and the transportation was really comfortable and clean. The excursions were amazing, I loved the lake ride, city tours and the local guides were all well versed too. We had a total of 10 on our tour, and everyone was really nice and I appreciated the small size and camaraderie. We all had a great time and made new friends. I appreciated that they handed out water everyday and took care of our luggage. I look forward to traveling with this company again.
What our customers ask about Balkans Small Group Tours
What is the typical group size for small group tours in the Balkans?
Small group tours in the Balkans keep numbers between 8-15 travelers ensuring everyone gets personal attention. Groups like "Choose Balkans" maintain these smaller numbers which works well when visiting places like Mostar's Old Bridge or exploring Ohrid Lake. As one TourRadar traveler mentioned: "Love small group. Great itinerary. Very well organized."
How does the accommodation differ on small group tours versus larger tours?
These tours select boutique locally-owned properties such as the Central Park Hotel in Trebinje or Hotel Mark in Belgrade. The smaller hotels put you right in historic centers where you can walk to main attractions. A TourRadar review noted: "The hotels were all centrally located and the rooms were clean and comfortable with great local character."
What unique experiences are possible with small group tours in the Balkans?
The smaller size opens doors to local experiences that larger groups can't access. You can join families for dinner in Kosovo visit family wineries in Montenegro and meet artisans in their Mostar workshops. Groups often spend time with residents in places like Viscri village or learn traditional cooking. One TourRadar traveler shared: "The intimate group size allowed us to have dinner with local families and visit places off the tourist track."
What kind of transportation is used for small group Balkans tours?
Tours use Mercedes Sprinter vans or mini-buses that can handle narrow village roads and mountain routes. The smaller vehicles make it easy to stop at viewpoints like Albania's Blue Eye spring or visit wineries in Kosovo's Rahovec Valley. As a TourRadar reviewer noted: "Our comfortable mini-van could navigate the winding coastal roads of Montenegro and reach remote monasteries that big buses can't access."
How much free time is available on small group Balkans tours?
Tours mix guided activities with independent time. In places like Dubrovnik and Belgrade you might spend 2-3 hours with a guide in the morning then have afternoons free to explore. One TourRadar traveler shared: "I loved having mornings with our knowledgeable guide at sites like Plitvice Lakes then free time to wander charming towns like Mostar at my own pace."
What is the recommended age range for small group Balkans tours?
While tours welcome adults of any age most travelers are between 45-65 years old. You'll need moderate fitness for walking tours in places like Dubrovnik and Kotor. Data shows 61% of participants are over 50 but maintain active lifestyles and interest in local culture. A TourRadar reviewer noted: "Our group ranged from 40s to 70s - everyone could participate comfortably in the activities."
