Itinerary
- Day 1
Kathmandu City Tour
The day starts with a hotel pickup and you'll head to Swayembhunath Stupa, the ancient temple complex perched on a hilltop overlooking the valley. From there, it's a drive to Patan Durbar Square where you can see the old palace built by the Malla Kings, with its intricate carved windows and courtyards. After that, you'll stop at Pashupatinath Temple, one of the most sacred Hindu sites in Nepal. Here you'll walk through the temple grounds and observe the cremation rituals along the riverbanks, though be respectful of the ceremonies taking place. By lunch time, you'll arrive at Boudhanath Stupa, and you can eat with views of the enormous white dome and prayer flags. Later in the afternoon, there's time at a thanka painting school where you can learn about the traditional Tibetan art form and watch artists work on these detailed religious paintings. The day wraps up with your return to the hotel.
