Flight to Singapore
Your journey starts with an international flight departing Frankfurt headed to Singapore. This is the beginning of your trip into Papua New Guinea, so you'll want to settle in for the long haul across multiple time zones.

Singapore to Port Moresby
You'll arrive in Singapore and then connect to your next flight heading to Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea. The connection gives you a chance to stretch your legs before continuing on.
- Day 3
Port Moresby
Landing in Port Moresby, you'll check into your hotel and get settled. Later in the afternoon, head out on a bird watching tour at Pacific Adventist University to see what the region has to offer in terms of local bird species.

Port Moresby to Goroka
You'll fly to Goroka in the highlands where the climate is much more pleasant than the lowlands. Once there, visit the village of the Asaro, known as the 'clay people,' for your first real cultural experience on this tour.

Goroka
The Goroka Festival takes center stage today with over 2000 participants from around 120 ethnic groups, tribes, and clans. You'll watch traditional dances, fighting games, and songs performed by warriors in colorful decorations. This is the largest 'Sing Sing' event in Papua New Guinea.

Goroka to Kagai
Spend this morning exploring more of the Goroka Festival, then drive to Kagai in Simbu province. The drive takes you through highlands with fantastic views along the way, so take time to look around as you travel.

Kagai to Mount Hagen
You'll explore village life in the Simbu region at your own pace today. Meet villagers, walk through the village, try special food prepared for your visit, and participate in various local traditional activities before transferring to Mount Hagen.

Mount Hagen to Simbai
A small charter plane takes you from Mount Hagen to Simbai where you'll experience the Kalam culture. You're arriving for the Kalam festival, an initiation rite where boys become men. You'll stay in a simple homestay in the village.

Simbai

Simbai to Mount Hagen
After saying goodbye to the Kalam community, you'll begin your return journey with a short charter flight back to Mount Hagen, heading back toward civilization and your next destination.

Mount Hagen to Muchu Island
An early flight takes you from Mount Hagen to Wewak, then you'll board a boat to Muchu Island. During the boat trip, watch for dolphins. Once you arrive, explore the island or relax on the beach depending on what appeals to you.

Muchu Island to Kanganamun
Boat back to the mainland from Muchu Island, then travel to the Sepik Plain. You'll go downstream in a motorized canoe through unique waterways to reach the village of Kanganamun where you may encounter crocodile men with distinctive scar patterns.

Return to Wewak early in the morning by motorized canoe. Once you arrive, spend the afternoon at your hotel relaxing and reflecting on your time in the Sepik region.

Wewak to Port Moresby

In the afternoon, transfer to the airport and fly to Singapore, beginning your journey home after your time exploring Papua New Guinea.
- Day 20
Singapore to Frankfurt
You'll arrive back in Germany, concluding your journey through Papua New Guinea's interior, highlands, and river regions. The trip ends after experiencing diverse cultures and traditions across the country.
