Itinerary
- Day 1
Johannesburg to KwaZulu-Natal
Meet your guide at 6:30 AM to kick off the safari. You'll drive through Mpumalanga's landscapes heading into KwaZulu-Natal, traveling roughly 550 km over about 7.5 hours. The journey takes you through diverse terrain before reaching your house tent at the private uKuwela Game Reserve, which becomes your base for the next three days. Once you arrive, settle in and get a feel for the bushveld setting.

- Day 2
KwaZulu-Natal
Start the morning with a walking exploration around the lodge and along the Msinene River. You'll be tracking nyala antelopes and checking out the different bird species in the area. By afternoon, head out on a game drive through Mkuze Game Reserve where white and black rhinos come to the waterholes, and you'll spot elephants, giraffes, lions, and other wildlife moving around. Stay alert for the range of animals you might encounter.

Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve
Start with a game drive through the reserve where you'll look for the Big 5 and other wildlife. Stop for a picnic lunch by the Hluhluwe River, then head out on a bush walk in the late afternoon before returning to the lodge for the night.

Kosi Bay
Travel to iSimangaliso Wetland Park and spend time exploring Kosi Bay's mangroves and dune forests on foot and by boat. Watch local Tsonga fishermen using traditional fish traps, then relax on the beach. If visiting between November and January, you can join a guided turtle nesting tour.

- Days 5 - 6
Hluhluwe-iMfolozi to Ponta do Ouro
Cross into Mozambique and reach Ponta do Ouro, just a short walk from your beach accommodation. Spend the afternoon relaxing with a local drink and preparing for tomorrow's ocean safari where you might see dolphins, whales, or snorkel on shallow reefs.

- Day 7
to Maputo
Travel to Maputo, Mozambique's capital (formerly Lourenço Marques before independence in 1975), covering about 120 km in roughly 1.5 hours. The city blends Portuguese and African culture, which comes through in the lively atmosphere and the food scene. You'll find excellent seafood at local restaurants throughout Maputo, giving a real sense of the local culinary traditions.

- Days 8 - 9
Inhambane - Praia da Barra
Drive through mango and cashew groves to Inhambane, where you'll see the historic Igreja Nossa Senhora de Conceição and other colonial buildings. Head to Praia da Barra and settle in for two days on the beach. Optional activities include dhow tours of Inhambane Bay, diving, and ocean safaris.

- Day 10
Chizavane
Travel south to Chizavane, a coastal village set in beach dunes with wild ocean waves. At low tide, a rocky reef creates a calm, shallow pool ideal for snorkeling and swimming. End the day with a traditional fish braai dinner under the stars.

Chizavane to Kruger National Park
Travel through the interior of Mozambique and Limpopo National Park to reach Kruger. Head out on morning and afternoon game drives tracking lions, giraffes, elephants, and other Big Five wildlife across this vast reserve with enormous species diversity.

- Day 13
Kruger National Park
Begin early with an extended game drive through Kruger National Park. In the afternoon, transfer to a private concession lodge on the reserve's edge. As evening comes, relax with a gin and tonic while listening to African wildlife sounds under the stars.

- Day 14
Kruger National Park to Johannesburg
Join a guided bush walk during the cool morning hours, learning to spot small details and read animal tracks from your experienced ranger. After that, drive back to Johannesburg, arriving at the airport around 5 pm or your hotel around 6 pm for your flight home or onward journey.
