    Your flight from Düsseldorf arrives in Málaga, and after a short drive you'll reach this vibrant coastal city on the Costa del Sol. Depending on when you land, there's a chance to visit the birthplace of Pablo Picasso and walk around a bit.     Málaga to Granada

    Granada to Pampaneira

    A bus takes you south toward the Sierra Nevada and into the Alpujarras region, an area that stays relatively untouched by mass tourism. You'll arrive at the valley of the Río Poqueira and start your first hike through Pampaneira, one of the white villages. The route follows the 'pueblos blancos' through a deep river valley, and throughout the hike you get constant views of Spain's highest peaks.

The route back to Capileira uses old shepherd's paths and forest tracks, mixing history with natural scenery.

The hike passes through holm oak forests and circles a mountain ridge before descending toward Pitres. Later, you walk along old village paths to Busquístar, and then a bus takes you to Trevélez, which is known for its air-dried ham.
