- Day 1
Bari
You'll land in Bari and head to your hotel. If you arrive with time to spare, the Old Town is right there to walk around, or you could check out the 11th-century Basilica di San Nicola. Your group gets together at 6 pm for a welcome dinner where you'll taste what Puglia's all about with some local food.

Polignano a Mare
This morning you're heading inland to Alberobello to see those distinctive beehive-shaped trulli buildings up close. A local guide takes you through Rione Monti and Rione Aia Piccola, then you'll stop by the Church de Sant'Antonio. After that, it's down to the coast at Polignano a Mare where you can explore beaches and cliffside houses. Back in Bari by evening, you'll have free time to do what you like.

Nardo
You'll visit an olive oil farm that's been around since Roman times and learn how they actually make the oil, plus taste some. Then it's to Ostuni where the streets are whitewashed and the buildings show both Gothic and Romanesque styles from centuries past. Next stop is Nardo for a walking tour through the Old Town with its impressive palazzos. You're checking into your special accommodation today, three restored 13th-century Baronial Palaces.

Nardo
If you're interested, there's a secret garden at your accommodation to walk through before heading to Lecce. A local guide shows you around the city's ornate baroque buildings and narrow streets, plus the ancient Roman ruins scattered throughout. You'll have some free time to explore on your own after that. Evening brings you back to Nardo for a traditional Puglia cooking class where you'll make the food yourself.

Matera
Start this morning at your accommodation with coffee and views before traveling to Matera. Along the way you'll stop at a local winery for tasting and lunch. Matera's perched on a rocky outcrop and it's one of the oldest continuously inhabited places around. Once you arrive, you can walk through the city, check out the churches, try the traditional restaurants, and get a feel for all that history.

Matera
Today's all about Matera's sassi, the famous part with over 3,000 stone houses built right into natural grottoes and tufo cliffs. Some of these dwellings go back to the 8th century. A local guide leads you through the maze of staircases and narrow passages, showing you ancient sassi houses. You'll also visit an ancient underground neighborhood with recreated exhibits and see the Ipogeo Underground Cistern.

Naples
You're driving to Pompeii today to see one of Europe's most well-known archaeological sites. The ruins here come from Mt Vesuvius erupting in 79 AD. A local guide walks you through well-preserved villas, temples, theatres, markets, and streets still marked by chariot wheels. You'll see the Roman Forum, basilica, temples, public baths, and the Odeon. After exploring, you head to Naples for your final group dinner together.
