Itinerary
- Day 1
Lusaka to Kafue National Park
Your driver meets you at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka and takes you by private car to the lodge outside Kafue National Park. The drive moves you away from city streets and into the African bush, so it's a gradual transition into the landscape. Once you settle in, you can rest at the lodge or jump into an afternoon activity if you're not too tired from traveling.

Kafue National Park
This is a full day in Kafue National Park with morning and afternoon game drives, walking safaris, and boat trips on the Kafue River. You'll likely spot elephants, lions, leopards, wild dogs, cheetahs, hippos, crocodiles, antelope, and various bird species throughout the day. After lunch you'll have time to relax on the terrace overlooking the river, then head out for more game activities. Dinner happens under the stars once you return to the lodge.

Kafue National Park to Busanga Plains
A roughly 5-hour game drive takes you north into the Busanga Plains section of the park. This area has few other vehicles around, so it feels like real wilderness. After checking into your luxury safari tent, you can rest on the wooden deck or head out on an afternoon game drive to see what's in the surrounding area.

Busanga Plains
The Busanga Plains are a vast flood plain that dries out after rainy season and brings in large numbers of birds. Walking safaris start shortly after sunrise to beat the heat, and game drives run at sunrise and after dark. You'll see a good mix of wildlife and bird species as you move through this area.

Landmarks/POIs Busanga Plains - Day 5
Busanga Plains
Another day exploring the wilderness here. Start with an early game drive to look for lions, cheetahs, leopards, and wild dogs. In the late afternoon, you can try an electric bicycle safari or go birding, or just stay at camp and use the pool or rest in your tent overlooking the plains. The evening is yours to spend watching the stars.

Busanga Plains to Kafue National Park
After an early breakfast, you'll head back to Kafue on approximately a 5-hour game drive. The drive gets you back to the main lodge by early afternoon, and you'll have a tea break when you arrive. Afternoon options include a sunset cruise or another game drive so you can catch anything you might have missed on previous days.
