Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Tirana to Berat
You arrive in Tirana and travel to Berat, a UNESCO-listed Ottoman city sitting on a hillside. Walk through the fortress grounds and stop at the Onufri Museum inside the Church of the Dormition of the Virgin to see its icon collection. The rest of the day is yours to wander the old town or lower city before settling in for the night.

Berat to Gjirokastra
After breakfast, you'll drive along a mountain path with nice views toward Gjirokastra, another UNESCO-listed museum-city with Ottoman architecture throughout. Once there, check out the citadel on the mountain and tour a traditional defensive house called a Kulle. You head back for the night.

Gjirokastra to Butrint National Park to Vlora
After breakfast, you're heading to Butrint National Park, which has swampy areas, two lakes, and endangered species living in the area. The main draw is the UNESCO-listed archaeological site with remains from Roman and Byzantine civilizations and several others. Along the way you'll stop at Porto Palermo Castle, then continue to Vlora for the night where you have free time to see the city.

Vlora to Apollonia to Ardenica to Durres to Tirana
After breakfast, travel to Apollonia, an ancient Greek city founded around 600 BC with temples, an amphitheater, library, and other structures still standing. Next you stop at the Ardenica Monastery, one of Albania's finest Orthodox monuments that's been restored nicely. From there it's on to Durres for a panoramic city tour that includes the 1st-century Roman amphitheater, then drive to Tirana for the night.

Tirana
After breakfast, a guided tour takes you through Tirana's capital landmarks including Skanderbeg Square, Tanners Bridge, the Ethem Bey Mosque (one of the city's rare Ottoman remains), and the Clock Tower. You stay overnight in Tirana.

This is a free day in Tirana with no guided activities scheduled. You can wander around the city on your own terms, visit museums or cafes, or check out areas that interest you. The day is completely yours to organize however you like.
