Itinerary
- Day 1
Nairobi to Mount Kenya (Sirimon Gate)
You'll leave Nairobi in the early morning and drive about 4 hours to Nanyuki Town, then head to Sirimon Gate at 2,650m/8,694ft where the Mount Kenya trek starts. Your guides, porters and cook will join you for a 4-hour hike through the forest, and you'll reach Old Moses Camp at 3,300m/10,827ft for your first night.

Mount Kenya (Old Moses Camp to Shipton's Camp)
After breakfast at camp, you'll trek through moorland for 6 to 7 hours, seeing high altitude flowers, animals and different bird species as you go. By late afternoon you'll arrive at Shipton's Camp at 4,200m/13,779ft, which sits right at the bottom of the main peaks where you'll spend the night.

Mount Kenya (Shipton's Camp to Mackinders Camp)
You'll have breakfast and then use this day for acclimatization, which is important at this elevation. There's a hike to Hauburg Col at 4,600m/15,092ft with lunch somewhere along the way, then you'll traverse around the peaks to Mackinders Camp at 4,200m/13,779ft for your overnight stay.

Mount Kenya (Mackinders Camp to Meru Mount Kenya Bandas Camp via Lenana Peak)
Early morning tea comes at 2:30 am before you start climbing along loose scree to Lenana Peak (4,985m/16,355ft), the third highest peak on Mount Kenya, reaching the summit by sunrise after about 3 hours. After taking in the views, you'll descend to Mintos Camp for breakfast (3 hours), then continue descending through scenic trails on the Chogoria Route where you can see Gorges Valley. This 6-hour descent gets you to Meru Mount Kenya Bandas Camp at 2,950m/9,678ft, and the whole day involves roughly 12 hours of trekking.

- Day 5
Mount Kenya to Nairobi (via Chogoria)
You'll eat breakfast at camp before a 2-hour descent through the rain forest, then meet your transfer vehicle at Chogoria Village. From there it's a drive back to Nairobi where you'll arrive in the evening and get dropped off.
