Get to Gyeongbokgung Palace early to catch the Royal Guard Changing Ceremony, and you'll have the chance to rent traditional hanboks while exploring the palace grounds. An optional karaoke night happens later if you're interested.

This morning you'll head out on a half-day DMZ tour to see Korea's border history firsthand. The Dora Observatory lets you look across into North Korean villages through binoculars, and you'll explore the Third Tunnels, which get within 200m of North Korea. After talking with a North Korean defector, return to Seoul and walk through Hongdae's street art and music scene. Later, hit Myeongdong's crowded streets with food vendors and shops, then catch the Nanta Show, a theatrical comedy performance.

Seoul to Gyeongju
Take the KTX train from Seoul to Gyeongju, arriving around lunch with time to explore on your own. Late afternoon brings a cycling tour through Chunmachong Ancient Tombs, Daereungwon Tumuli Park, and Cheomseongdae (East Asia's oldest astronomical observatory). A traditional set meal at a hanok restaurant comes after, followed by an evening visit to Anapji Pond to see the illuminated lights before returning to your hanok accommodations.
