Schladming
You'll arrive in Schladming, a mountain village situated between the Dachstein and Tauern Mountains. After getting your travel documents at your accommodation, take a walk through the town square to get a feel for the alpine setting. Stop by one of the local cafés for coffee and settle in before the week ahead.

Schladming
The hiking bus takes you to Eschachboden in the Untertal valley where you start a circular hike to Duisitzkarsee. You'll walk through high forest and then come out into an open alpine valley with mountain views and a clear lake. After resting at mountain huts along the route, head back through Stierkar and Neualm before the bus returns you to Schladming by evening.

Schladming to Ramsau am Dachstein
Start from Rohrmoos and hike through Preuneggtal Valley into the Strub Gorge, which has a winding stream and small pools. The trail continues along the Panorama Trail past Gleiming, then crosses the Enns River and passes by Halserberg and Rittisberg mountains. By late afternoon you'll reach the Ramsau Plateau beneath the Dachstein's dramatic southern cliffs.

Ramsau am Dachstein
Take the hiking bus to Türlwand valley station and ride the cable car up to Hoher Dachstein, Styria's highest peak. In a short time you'll gain about 1,000 meters and have sweeping views of glaciers and the Central Alpine ridge. At the summit, walk the groomed glacier path to Dachsteinwarte Seethalerhütte at 2,741 meters, then cross the famous Dachstein suspension bridge including the 'stairway to nowhere' section.

Ramsau am Dachstein to Haus im Ennstal
Begin with the Philosopher's Walk on the Panorama Trail through shaded forests, catching views of the Dachstein's white rock faces. You'll pass the Church of St. Rupert, the oldest religious building in the high valley, and continue through hilly forest to Sattelberg Hut. After walking through Birnberg village and along forest roads, cross the Enns River at the sports center and arrive in Haus im Ennstal by evening.

Haus im Ennstal to Gröbming
Leave Haus im Ennstal crossing the suspension bridge over the Enns and hike past Weissenbach, climbing gradually to Sonnberg. The route takes you through Assach past the Aichberg, then a steeper climb up Kunagründberg with panoramic views of the Gröbming valley. Later you'll pass through sections of the tree horoscope trail that explain Celtic tree symbolism, then descend through Weyern village to reach Gröbming on the hilltop.

Gröbming
Spend the day in Gröbming, a climatic health resort with options to suit your interests. You could hike to the Friedenskircherl on 2,000-meter-high Stoderzinken or try the zipline back down. The Adventure Park has 18 climbing courses of different difficulty levels, or walk to Freienstein mountain for panoramic views and rest spots like the Peace Bell and Hearty View.
