Asked on January 6th, 2024Can you please explain the trails to me? One of my travelers has had cancer, underwent chemo and does have difficulty hiking uphill. Can you recommend a trip for us?

Traveler•Written January 2024How rugged are the trails? I am trying to talk my friend into this so I need all the information you could give me. It is on my bucket list to hike any of the Appalation Trail.
- Wildland TrekkingOperator•Written January 2024
The trails are somewhat rugged, they do have rocks and roots sticking out and at times can have some good elevation gain. We do have some basecamp options in other areas. This means you're still camping but you wouldn't carry a heavy pack. Another option could be a portered trip.

Asked on May 16th, 2023It looks like the trip starts early in the morning on day 1, which means we would need to have lodging in Asheville the night before, as it is not included in the trip cost. Do you have any recommendations as to where I should stay? Where in Asheville would we need to meet on day 1?
- Wildland TrekkingOperator•Written May 2023
There is a pre-trip meeting at 5:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in downtown Asheville on the day before the trip. We do recommend staying at this hotel, and provide a couple other recommendations in the Asheville area. You aren't required to stay at any of these hotels, we can pick you up on the morning of Day 1 wherever you stay, as long as it's in the town of Asheville.
