Arrival in Arusha
You'll get picked up from the airport and driven to your hotel in Arusha. Spend the rest of the day getting settled, resting up, and getting ready for the safari that starts tomorrow.

Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, your guide meets you for the drive to Lake Manyara National Park, about 120km west of Arusha. The park has a shallow salt lake where thousands of flamingos gather, plus over 500 bird species. You'll see monkeys, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and buffalo throughout the day. Lions sometimes hang out in the trees here, and elephants roam the grassy plains. The landscape shifts between woodlands full of primates and cliffs dotted with baobab trees.

Landmarks Lake Manyara National Park - Day 3
Ngorongoro Conservation Area to Serengeti National Park
You'll drive through highland farmland in the morning where the Iraqw people cultivate wheat, coffee, and corn. Passing through Ngorongoro Conservation Area gives you views of the crater before you continue to Serengeti National Park, arriving around midday. The afternoon involves an extensive game drive through Tanzania's largest park. Depending on when you're traveling, you might see the massive wildebeest and zebra migration happening across the plains.

Landmarks Ngorongoro Crater Serengeti National Park - Day 4
Serengeti National Park
This entire day you're doing game drives in Serengeti National Park. You'll watch for impalas, buffalo, crocodiles, and hippos throughout the day. The famous migrating zebra and wildebeest herds move based on seasonal rainfall, so what you see depends on timing. Predators like leopards, cheetahs, and lions hunt in the area, so keep your eyes open for action.

Landmarks Serengeti National Park - Day 5
Serengeti National Park
Your last full day in the Serengeti (the 'Endless Plain' in Maasai language) involves continued game drives spotting the wide range of animals and birds. By now you know what to look for and how the park works. Tell your guide which areas or animals interest you most and they'll take you where the wildlife activity is strongest.

Landmarks Serengeti National Park - Day 6
Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
Start with an early breakfast and a morning game drive hunting for the 'Big Five' (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard). From there you head toward Ngorongoro Crater, traveling through unfenced reserves where animals roam freely. Arriving at the crater's edge by afternoon, you get your first look at tomorrow's destination: streams, grassland, and thousands of animals below.

Landmarks Ngorongoro Crater - Day 7
Ngorongoro Crater
Early risers catch the sunrise over the crater's edge, then after a full breakfast you drive down into this UNESCO World Heritage site. The crater formed millions of years ago and drops 610m deep, covering about 260 square kilometers. Roughly 25,000 animals live here year-round. Within minutes of descending you'll spot wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and elephants. Over 500 bird species make their home here, and if you're fortunate, you might see an endangered black rhino.

Landmarks Ngorongoro Crater - Day 8
Tarangire National Park and Return to Arusha
After breakfast, you drive to Tarangire National Park for your final safari stop, a place known for large elephant herds. From the open roof of your vehicle you explore seasonal swamps, savanna, and the Tarangire River looking for zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, elephants, and giraffes. Lions sometimes stalk prey and leopards rest in trees overhead. Following the extensive game drive, you head back to Arusha.
