However, there was a near-disastrous 'cock-up' at the start which almost resulted in us - and several other passengers - missing the boat entirely. We were doing Tip of Provence to Lyon 1-7 September, but were not informed in advance that the embarkation point had been changed from Martigues to Port Saint-Louis, many miles out of town. There was a breakdown in communication in that we were not informed about this, despite the tour company having our contact details. We only found out through a chance encounter with another couple of passengers, who had got the information from other members of their group who had somehow found out about the change. The outcome was pretty shambolic and did not reflect well on the company's efficiency.Show moreTrip date: September 2025

Kevin· September 30th, 2024Rooms very small and bathroom tiny. No choice of meals. Loud announcements early each morning whether you were going on an excursion or not. No chance to sleep in if you wanted to. No advance notice of the final destination port until the day before the end consequently all the direct trains to Paris we're booked out. The boat travels at night leaving ample time for onshore excursions, though I must say that a couple of the excursions were disappointing. The tour guides were excellent. Idealy I would like to see more free time to explore a site. Perhaps a morning tour and an afternoon to explore. I found out last evening that 8 out of 20 participants from 1 US state came down with COVID just after the trip.
