Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival
You'll arrive and get settled into your accommodation today. After getting your room sorted, you'll meet the other hikers who'll be joining you for the week. This is a good time to go over what's coming up and make sure you have everything you need for the hiking adventure.
- Day 2
Bad Goisern to Altaussee
The hiking starts from Bad Goisern, heading up via Predigstuhl through alpine pastures and small huts along the way. The UNESCO World Heritage Hallstatt Dachstein region spreads out below you as you walk. Around midday you'll stop at Blaa-Alm to try local alpine specialties and rest up. From there it's on to Altaussee, an artistic village where you'll spend the night.

Altaussee to Gößl
You start along Lake Altaussee with the Loser massif on the horizon. The route takes you over Tressensattel, where the views open up across panoramic mountain landscapes. Later you'll reach Lake Grundlsee and can choose to visit the mysterious Toplitz Lake or hop on a traditional wooden boat to reach Gößl.

- Day 4
Lake Grundlsee to Tauplitzalm
This hike takes you through deep green Styrian forests and past alpine landscapes, with a rushing mountain stream keeping you company through the meadows. You'll visit Öldernalm, which Heinrich Harrer called 'the most beautiful spot on earth'. Then you climb over the Törl to reach Tauplitzalm, a fairytale lake and plateau at the end of the day.

- Day 5
Tauplitzalm
You're on one of Europe's most beautiful high plateaus with options for how to spend your day. You can take the 6-lake hike along scenic routes to mountain lakes or trek toward the peaks of the Totes Gebirge instead. Keep an eye out for alpine flora like snow roses, gentian, and alpine roses, and with some luck you might spot chamois on the steep mountain faces.

Tauplitzalm to Bad Goisern
You'll descend via Hochalm, passing Steirersee lake and then Schwarzensee lake, which sits secluded between high mountains. From there the trail takes you down through forest and fields full of flowering daffodils before reaching Tauplitz village. After that you'll catch the train back to Bad Goisern.
