Departure to Buenos Aires
You'll fly to Buenos Aires today, heading to Argentina's vibrant capital. It's a long journey, but you'll arrive ready to begin your South American adventure in this iconic city.
- Day 2
Buenos Aires
Your guide meets you at the hotel and takes you through Buenos Aires. You'll walk around the city center, stroll down Avenida de Mayo, wander through San Telmo's tango district with its historic charm, check out La Boca's colorful tin houses, and see La Recoleta cemetery where Evita's buried. There's plenty to see today as you get the feel of this 'Paris of South America.'

Buenos Aires
You'll head north through city parks and pass the President's residence on your way to Tigre, a local recreation area. Then you stop in San Isidro to walk its cobbled historic streets and see the neo-Gothic cathedral. After that, you board a boat for a one-hour tour through the 300-kilometer delta, where you'll spot unique vegetation and stilted weekend houses. By evening, you're back heading through the Panamericana to catch a special tango show dinner.

Ushuaia
You'll fly to Ushuaia, the world's southernmost city. Once there, you explore Tierra del Fuego National Park with its mountain ranges, moors, rivers, forests and coastlines. If you want to get out, you can walk through nearby beech forest or just relax at your accommodation. Dinner features traditional Argentinian food, and you can order the famous local steak if you'd like.

Ushuaia
Today you take a catamaran through the Beagle Channel and see Olivia Mountain, Le Martial Glacier, and views back toward Ushuaia. You'll visit Les Éclaireurs lighthouse island, Cormorant Island, and Sea Lion Island to watch wildlife. The main event is the penguin colony on Isla Martillo where you get close looks at Magellanic penguins before heading back to port.

You'll fly to El Calafate, your gateway to Los Glaciares National Park. In the afternoon, you drive out to an estancia, a typical country estate, where you experience real Patagonian life with old wooden houses, sheep flocks, and endless landscape. After that, you have a traditional Patagonian dinner right there on the steppe.

El Calafate
Today's about Perito Moreno Glacier. You'll see this dramatic wall of ice in deep blue and turquoise shades with bizarrely shaped towers. You board a boat to get closer and if you're lucky, you'll watch massive chunks of ice crash into the lake. Then you hike along well-maintained trails with views of the shimmering glacier through the trees.

Torres del Paine National Park
You drive through Argentine pampas into Chilean Patagonia toward Torres del Paine National Park. Along the way you walk near Laguna Azul and see the Torres peaks if the weather's good. You'll spot guanacos, ñandus, foxes and different bird species. Today you cross the border into Chile.

Torres del Paine National Park
You spend all day in Torres del Paine National Park exploring different areas. You pass Pehoé and Nordenskjöld lakes with views of the Torres peaks, stop at the Salto Grande waterfalls, and take shorter hikes to the best viewpoints. Your guide explains the local flora and fauna as you see emerald green lakes, deep blue lagoons, waterfalls and towering mountain peaks.

You have breakfast looking out at the Torres massif. Then you drive to an estancia near Puerto Natales for a typical Patagonian meal with roast lamb grilled over fire on a spit. From there you continue to Punta Arenas and visit the Nao Victoria, a faithful replica of Ferdinand Magellan's 16th century ship.

You fly to Chile's lake district where hundred-year-old trees, roaring rivers and snow-capped volcanoes Osorno and Calbuco surround you. In Puerto Montt, you visit the Antonio Felmer Museum in Nueva Braunau to learn about the region's German immigrant settlement history from the 1800s.

Puerto Varas
You travel to Petreuë on Lago Todos los Santos for a short boat trip with volcano views all around. You see Saltos del Petreuë rapids and waterfalls spilling over lava rock with Osorno volcano behind them. On your way back, you stop at the Puerto Varas Association of Women Entrepreneurs to see recycled and reused products. Later, Ines and Ignacio, a couple with Mapuche roots, host you for dinner and take you through Chilean cuisine flavors with regional dishes.
