Arrival in Rincón de la Vieja
You'll be picked up at Juan Santamaría Airport and driven to your hotel in Rincón de la Vieja, getting there around 3:00 pm. Once you settle in, take some time to relax and explore the hotel grounds. The property sits right in the middle of dry tropical forest with Rincón de la Vieja National Park surrounding everything, so there's plenty to see without leaving the property.

Landmarks Rincón de la Vieja National Park - Day 2
Rincón de la Vieja National Park Hiking and Waterfall
After breakfast at the hotel, an expert guide meets you for a hike through the Las Pailas sector of the national park. The 3.5km circular trail takes you through dry tropical forest where you'll see fumaroles, geysers, and bubbling mud pots from volcanic activity. Once the hike wraps up, head to the 25-meter La Oropendola Waterfall and jump into the turquoise pool below. The water comes from the Blanco River canyon, so it's cool and refreshing after being out in the heat.

Departure from Rincón de la Vieja
