Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Datong
Your guide will meet you at Datong airport or railway station and take you to your hotel in a private transfer that takes about an hour. After you get settled in, the rest of the day is open. You can relax at the hotel or wander through Datong's streets on your own to get a feel for the city.

Yungang Grottoes
After breakfast at the hotel, someone will pick you up around 8:00 for a half-day guided tour of the Yungang Grottoes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of China's most important ancient Buddhist sculpture locations. You'll head back to the hotel by noon, leaving your afternoon free to rest or explore whatever interests you.

- Day 3
Datong at Leisure
This day is completely yours to spend however you'd like. You can walk around and soak in Datong's ancient character while learning about Chinese dynasty history on your own. If you prefer a structured activity, you have two optional tours available: one covering the Hanging Temple and Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, or another focusing on the Huayan and Shanhua temples plus the Nine Dragon Screen (both are half-day options).

Optional Activities
- Optional Tour A: Hanging Temple and Yingxian Wooden Pagoda tour - visit the heritage of three Chinese traditional religions at Hanging Temple, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, and visit Yingxian Wooden Pagoda (ends approximately 17:00)
- Optional Tour B: Huayan and Shanhua Temple and the Nine Dragon Screen half-day tour - pick-up at 8:00 from hotel lobby to visit southwest Datong religious sites famous for Liao and Tang Dynasty architecture, and see Nine Dragon Screen (returns approximately 12:00)

Departure from Datong
Have breakfast at the hotel and pack up your things. Your guide will pick you up at the time you've arranged and drive you to Datong airport or railway station so you can continue on with your journey.
