Barcelona
You'll arrive in Barcelona on your own schedule. If your flight gets in early enough, there's time to walk down the Ramblas and check out La Boqueria market before heading to your accommodation. Later in the evening, you'll meet the rest of your group and your tour guide at a welcome dinner with traditional Spanish tapas.

Barcelona
This day focuses on Barcelona's main sights using public transport and walking. Start at the old harbor and the El Born district, where you'll see the Santa Maria del Mar church. From there, head through Barrio Gótico to walk around the Gothic cathedral and the royal palace. After lunch, you'll check out Gaudí's work including the Sagrada Familia and the curved buildings of Casa Milà and Casa Batlló. By evening, you'll have plenty to think about from all you've seen.

Montserrat
Take public transport up to Montjuïc hill to see the Olympic sites and various exhibition buildings. You'll visit the Fundació Joan Miró for surrealist art, then walk through the Moorish gardens and past the Teatre Grec. In the afternoon, you'll travel about 45 kilometers northwest to Montserrat monastery, which you'll reach by cog railroad. The monastery sits built into the mountain and functions as an important pilgrimage site, so you'll explore it, see the famous black Madonna, and take in the views. Later, you'll head back and have a relaxing walk around the Eixample district to wind down.

Today is yours to spend however you'd like in Barcelona. You can shop along the famous boulevards, relax on the palm-lined beach promenade, or swim in the 4-kilometer sandy beach. Alternatively, you have the option to book a four-hour guided tour covering Catalan Art Nouveau, including Parc Güell with its dragon gates and colorful mosaic seating areas, plus the Sant Pau hospital with its decorated pavilions. That evening, you'll have a final dinner with Spanish specialties where everyone can share what stood out during the trip.
