Itinerary
- Day 1
Garachico
You'll arrive in Garachico, a coastal town on Tenerife's northwest coast, and check into your hotel which occupies a restored 17th century mansion. After getting settled, take some time to rest and explore the immediate area. The town itself has a nice historic feel with its cobblestone streets and older architecture, so a short walk around helps you get your bearings before dinner.

Parque Rural de Teno
This morning you'll drive through banana plantations in La Isla Baja heading toward Parque Rural de Teno. From El Palmar village, the walk takes you up toward the mountain ridge and Mirador de Baracan, where you get views down into deep ravines that drop to the coast and La Gomera in the distance. Along the route you'll pass abandoned terraces, stone circles, and old farmhouses. The hike covers significant elevation and takes most of the day, so plan for a full walking adventure with varied terrain.

As you walk, the vegetation changes noticeably and you'll see black sand and volcanic rock appearing as the Arenas Negras volcano comes into view. Later you'll cross the Chinyero lava field where green lichen covers the dark rock. It's a long day with quite a bit of walking and elevation change.

The route takes you through protected pine forest and then reaches Los Escurriales, often called the Moon Landscape because of its unusual geological formations. Wind and water erosion have shaped this area over many centuries into something that looks pretty otherworldly. It's a moderate to long walk depending on how far you go, but the scenery makes it worthwhile.
