Itinerary
- Days 1 - 4
Cape Town
You'll arrive in Cape Town and have plenty to explore in this first stretch. Start by taking the cable car up to Table Mountain's summit (75°F/24°C typical), where the views across the city and coastline really open up. After coming back down, head to Robben Island for a boat tour of the famous prison where Nelson Mandela was held. The V&A Waterfront is perfect for lunch or an afternoon walk through its 400-plus shops and restaurants. By evening, consider booking a sunset dinner cruise along the coast. If you want to add more activities, Boulders Beach is where you can see penguin colonies up close, and Cape Point offers dramatic scenery a bit further out. Wine tasting in Stellenbosch or Franschhoek Valley works well as a half-day trip if you have the time. For thrill-seekers, skydiving, shark encounters, and paragliding are all available through local operators.

From the airport, a transfer gets you to Kapama Private Game Reserve in the Greater Kruger Park area, where you'll check in and have time to settle in before an afternoon game drive. The reserve covers 13,000 hectares across pristine bush, and you'll be looking for the Big Five plus over 350 bird species during twice-daily guided drives over the next two nights. You're staying at one of four luxury lodges or can try a romantic sleep-out option if that appeals to you.
