Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arrival in Antigua Guatemala

    You'll arrive at La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala and head to Antigua Guatemala for check-in. Keep in mind this tour only departs on Wednesdays or Sundays, so timing matters for booking.

  2. Day 2

    Antigua Guatemala

    Starting with breakfast, you'll walk through colonial-era Antigua to see La Merced Monastery, the Main Square, and the Cathedral. The rest of the morning and lunch are yours to spend however you'd like, with shopping options throughout town. Later in the afternoon, a guided half-day mountain biking trip takes you through the surrounding landscape where you'll learn about Ciudad Vieja's history and the 1541 volcanic mudslide. You're back in Antigua by evening.

  3. Day 3

    Acatenango Volcano

    After breakfast, you'll head to Acatenango Volcano's foothills where your licensed guide goes over safety instructions before the climb starts. Lunch is available along the way but isn't included in the tour price. By sunset you'll reach the summit to see Fuego Volcano's eruptions, gather around a bonfire with the group, then sleep in camp for the night.

  4. Day 4

    Acatenango to Antigua Guatemala

    This morning starts early so you can reach the summit for sunrise. Breakfast happens at camp, and then you'll make the descent and transfer back to Antigua Guatemala for your next night's stay.

  5. Day 5

    Chichicastenango and Lake Atitlán

    After breakfast you'll head early to the central highlands to visit the Chichicastenango indigenous market, known for its vibrant colors and local traditions. From there you'll see the Church of Santo Tomás before continuing to Lake Atitlán, which sits surrounded by three volcanoes. A panoramic tour of Panajachel rounds out the day, and you'll stay at the lake overnight.

  6. Day 6

    San Juan La Laguna and Guatemala City

    Starting with breakfast, you'll take a boat to the Tz'utujil village of San Juan La Laguna and walk through to see the Catholic Church and visit an artisanal chocolate factory, a textile and natural dye factory, and medicinal plant artisans. After returning to Panajachel, you'll head to Guatemala City, arriving for accommodation.

    Tikal Archaeological Park

    You'll have a packed breakfast before heading to the airport for a flight to Flores. Once there, you'll go straight to Tikal Archaeological Park where you can see Complex Q and R, Central Acropolis, Temple I, Temple II, and the Lost World depending on time. Lunch is sold at the Visitor Center but isn't included. You'll return to Flores for the night.

    Candelaria Caves to Cobán

    After breakfast, you'll transfer to Cobán and stop along the way at Candelaria Caves National Park, one of the most impressive cave and underground river systems in Latin America. The site has deep significance in Mayan history as an important pilgrimage destination and remains ecologically rich. You'll settle in Cobán for the night.

  9. Day 9

    Semuc Champey

    Starting with breakfast, you'll head to Semuc Champey, a natural wonder in Lanquín. This 500-meter-long natural bridge carries the Cahab ón River underneath while turquoise pools fed by springs cascade above. You have the afternoon free to explore the pools and jungle at your own pace, then return to Cobán for accommodation.

    Quetzal Biotope to Guatemala City

    After breakfast you'll visit the Quetzal Biotope, a 1,175-hectare protected area where Guatemala's national bird lives. The site features cloud forests with mountains reaching 2,300 meters and trees over 400 years old. Later in the afternoon you'll head back to Guatemala City and check in for the night.

    • For any tour departing before February 9th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after February 9th, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with Receptivo Aborigen Tours. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 95 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
    • Some departure dates and prices may vary and Receptivo Aborigen Tours will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
