- Day 2
Hobart
A city tour takes you to Mt. Nelson Lookout for views over the area, then you'll stop at Cascade Brewery for photos. Battery Point comes next, after which you can stroll through the Royal Botanical Gardens. From there, head to Salamanca Market to walk through stalls and galleries, trying local cheeses, oysters, and cider. Your Travel Director can point you toward dinner options to mark your first day of exploring.

Hobart to Strahan
You'll head west through Tasmania's dramatic landscapes, stopping at Mt. Field National Park to see Russell Falls. The drive continues to Lake St. Clair, Australia's deepest natural lake, then through the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park and the mining town of Queenstown. By evening, you'll reach Strahan on the coast. Dinner is at View 42 Restaurant and Bar, where you can see Macquarie Harbour from your table.

Strahan to Cradle Mountain
A Gordon River cruise with a local guide shows you dark amber waters and untouched wilderness. You'll visit Sarah Island, a former penal colony, to walk through convict history and see 3,000-year-old pine trees. Hells Gates, the treacherous harbour entrance, is next. Then you head to the highlands and your alpine forest accommodation, where you can relax by the fire, try local beer and wine, walk the wilderness boardwalk, or check out the hotel gallery.

You'll head to Penguin to try local beer at a seaside tap house overlooking Bass Strait. Sheffield comes next with its murals, then you continue through Meander Valley to reach Launceston for the evening.

Launceston
