- Day 1
Sydney to Canberra
You'll start about 1.5 hours from Sydney in the Southern Highlands where vineyards roll across the landscape and small villages dot the region. At Gold Creek Station farm, you'll meet Craig Starr and his family for a Be My Guest BBQ lunch, then head into Canberra. Once there, you can explore Parliament House grounds or take a self-guided tour to get a feel for Australia's capital and how it's laid out.

Canberra to Wangaratta
Start from Mt. Ainslie where you get panoramic views showing how Canberra's designed with its planned layout. Then you'll cross the Murray River (Australia's longest river) and head into Victoria's High Country. Beechworth, a historic gold rush town, is next, where you'll chat with the local pub publican and have afternoon tea at one of the town's oldest hotels. After that, spend your evening looking around shops, galleries and museums before heading to Wangaratta.

Wangaratta to Melbourne
You're heading south toward Glenrowan in Ned Kelly country, where the infamous bushranger was captured back in 1880. Statues and the museum scattered around town tell his story. From there, travel on to Melbourne for a city tour followed by a guided galleries tour at the Koorie Heritage Trust, celebrating First Peoples arts and culture. Later in the evening, you'll have time to wander Melbourne's hidden jazz bars, hole-in-the-wall restaurants, and galleries at your own pace.

Melbourne
This day is yours to explore Melbourne however you like, with your Travel Director available if you want help arranging things. Grab a strong coffee in one of the city's atmospheric laneways, or if you're keen on thrills, head to Melbourne Skydeck at Eureka Tower for views nearly 300 metres above the ground. You could also try a History and Donuts Walking Tour, or venture to Phillip Island to watch hundreds of little penguins return to shore at sunset.

Melbourne to Great Ocean Road
You'll travel the Great Ocean Road on a 240-kilometre journey along one of the world's most famous coastal routes. Dramatic limestone stacks like the Twelve Apostles catch your eye, along with untouched coastal coves and sleepy towns such as Lorne and Apollo Bay. The Loch Ard Gorge marks a famous shipwreck site, and London Bridge rock formations offer impressive sandstone arch formations that once resembled the namesake and still look remarkable today.

Great Ocean Road to Naracoorte
You'll explore the World Heritage listed Budj Bim Cultural Landscape on the shores of Tae Rak, formerly Lake Condah. Through a short lakeside walk, you'll learn how the Gunditjmara people worked with natural resources and developed Australia's oldest aquaculture system. Then head to Mt. Gambier in South Australia to see the striking Blue Lake filling a crater. Next is the Coonawarra wine region for tasting, then Naracoorte's Alexandra Cave with its delicate stalactites and massive twisted columns.

Naracoorte to Kangaroo Island
You're exploring the Fleurieu Peninsula with its rolling hills, rugged clifftops and sandy beaches. Stop in Victor Harbor to enjoy the seaside atmosphere, and you can optionally take a horse-drawn tram to Granite Island. Then board the ferry to Kangaroo Island, where native wildlife like sea lions, koalas and various bird species live. Your base for the night is Kingscote.

Stop at South Australia's only eucalyptus distillery where resident kangaroos and emus roam while you learn about producing 100% pure aromatic oil. End the day with craft beer tasting at the island's only boutique brewery.

Your morning includes a fully guided tour of one of Australia's only vertical wool mills where you'll learn about wool production history on Kangaroo Island. Visit South Australia's oldest operational lighthouse before leaving the island and arriving in Adelaide, the South Australian capital known for well-preserved churches and respected cuisine with more restaurants per capita than any other Australian city.

Adelaide

Back in Adelaide for the afternoon, explore Adelaide Central Market and sample local delicacies like green ant gin with cheese (at your own expense). Finish the evening with a Japanese-inspired celebratory dinner at your hotel with new friends.
