Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Athens to Nafplio

    Your private driver picks you up from your Athens hotel and takes you to the Acropolis, where you'll see the Parthenon and walk through the grounds. After that, the Acropolis Museum gives you a closer look at artifacts and sculptures. You'll then take a panoramic drive through Athens to see key landmarks, then head south along the coast toward the Peloponnese. The Corinth Canal is quite something to see, and you'll stop there before exploring the ruins of Ancient Corinth. By evening you'll arrive in Nafplio, a seaside town where you'll spend the night.

  2. Day 2

    Nafplio to Olympia

    Start in Nafplio's old city, wandering the narrow streets and checking out the seaside cafes. You'll take a boat out to Bourtzi fortress island in the harbor, then tackle Palamidi Castle's 999 steps for views over the area. Later you'll head to the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, known for how well sound carries in the space. In the afternoon, you'll visit Ancient Mycenae to see the Lion's Gate and Tomb of Agamemnon. From there it's on to Olympia for the night.

  3. Day 3

    Olympia to Zakynthos

    You'll get an early start at Ancient Olympia, where the original Olympic Games took place. Walk through the Temple of Zeus, Temple of Hera, shrine of Pelops, Council house, treasuries, gymnasium, palestra, and the stadium with its ancient marble starting blocks. After exploring the site, your driver takes you to Kyllini Port to catch the ferry to Zakynthos Island. Once you arrive and check into your hotel, the rest of the day is yours to walk around town or grab dinner at a traditional taverna.

  4. Day 4

    Zakynthos Island Boat Cruise

    After breakfast, you'll head to Zakynthos Marina for a boat cruise around the island. The Blue Caves are first, where the light on the water creates bright turquoise and green colors. Next is Shipwreck beach where you'll spend about 1.5 hours swimming in clear blue water. The boat stops at Porto Vromi for photos, then continues to Agalas Caves and Keri Caves. You'll also swim near Turtle Island alongside the sea turtles, and there's another swim stop near St. Nicholas and Basilikos beach for about an hour. Your driver picks you up at the marina in the afternoon and takes you back to the hotel.

  5. Day 5

    Zakynthos to Dimitsana

    After breakfast, you'll take the ferry from Zakynthos Port back to Kyllini, then travel to Diakofto where you board the Odontotos cog railway. This train winds through Vouraikos Canyon past streams, tunnels, waterfalls, and steep cliffs surrounded by forest. Your driver meets you in Kalavrita to visit the Cave of the Lakes, a natural formation with 13 lakes in different colors, plus a hanging bridge and waterfalls. Later you'll reach Dimitsana, a historic village where you can walk narrow streets and see the local architecture and landmarks.

  6. Day 6

    Dimitsana to Athens

    Your driver drops you at Monastery of Philosophou in Lousios Gorge, where you'll visit both the Old Monastery built in 963 (set in a cave) and the New Monastery from 1691 (still active) with its frescoes and religious objects. You'll hike through Lousios Gorge and see the river and greenery. Next is Monastery of Agios Ioannis Prodromos built into the rock face from the 19th century; resident monks sometimes talk with visitors about monastic life. After that you'll walk toward Ancient Gortyna, a former Roman settlement with a healing sanctuary of Asclepius, thermal baths, and old aqueducts. Your driver meets you there and drives you back to Athens, dropping you at your hotel.
