Nairobi
Your safari kicks off when you're picked up at Nairobi's airport and taken to your hotel. Later this evening, meet your travel group and guide over dinner at the famous Carnivore restaurant, a local institution known for its meat selection.

Nairobi to Aberdare National Park
Early morning departure from Nairobi heading north by 4x4 to Aberdare National Park in the central highlands. Along the way, stop at a local coffee and tea plantation where Elizabeth walks you through the entire production process and you'll taste fresh tea and coffee. After lunch with local cuisine, settle into The Ark Lodge for the night where you can watch resident birds and wildlife from the viewing areas.

Aberdare National Park to Samburu National Reserve
Leave the lush highlands and drive toward the dry landscapes of Samburu National Reserve in northern Kenya. This region is home to the 'Samburu Special 5', unique wildlife like Grevy's zebra and reticulated giraffe found nowhere else. Tonight you're staying at a luxury tented camp right on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River.

Samburu National Reserve
Start before sunrise on a morning game drive through Samburu's acacia forests and grasslands hunting for wildlife. The reserve was featured in the 'Born Free' book and movie as the setting for Elsa the lioness's story. Back at camp you'll have downtime, then head out again in the afternoon for another game drive across the savannah.

Landmarks Samburu National Reserve - Day 5
Samburu National Reserve to Sweetwaters
Today focuses on rhino conservation at Ol Pejeta Conservancy, East Africa's largest black rhino sanctuary. You'll learn about anti-poaching work and stand on the equator line running through the conservancy. Later, visit Sweetwaters Sanctuary to meet rescued and orphaned chimpanzees, then return to camp where you can watch wildlife come to the floodlit watering hole.

- Day 8
Maasai Mara National Reserve

Enjoy a hearty lunch back at the lodge before heading out again in the afternoon.

Zanzibar - Stone Town
Walk through UNESCO-listed Stone Town with a local specialist guide, wandering winding alleyways and seeing the intricately carved doors this Swahili trading hub is known for. Visit the old slave market, House of Wonders, Sultan's Palace Museum, and the Old Arab Fort. Later, head to a spice farm where you taste and smell the herbs, spices and fruits that earned Zanzibar its 'Spice Island' name.

Relax on Zanzibar's beaches and wade into the clear, warm turquoise water. Spend the day reading under palm trees or join an optional all-day traditional dhow boat cruise. On the cruise you'll sail from a fishing village spotting tropical fish, stop on a sandbank to swim and snorkel with colorful marine life, and enjoy a traditional Zanzibar seafood lunch.
