- Day 1
Arrival in Negombo
Your Holiday Lanka Tours representative will meet you at Bandaranaike International Airport and drive you to Negombo, which takes about 30 minutes. This coastal resort town sits 37 km north of Colombo and just 7 km from the airport, so you'll get there quickly. Negombo's known for its wide sandy beaches and protected waters, making it a good starting point for your trip.

Negombo to Sigiriya
After breakfast, you'll spend the morning exploring Negombo's beach, fish market, and St. Mary's Church plus other local spots. Then you head inland to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, where you can watch young elephants that were abandoned or injured bathe and play in the stream. From there, you'll stop at Dambulla Rock Cave Temple on the way to Sigiriya for your overnight stay.

- Day 3
Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa
You'll climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress in the morning after breakfast. King Kasyapa built this UNESCO site in the 5th century, though it was used as a monastery from the 3rd century BC and later became a royal residence before turning back to religious use. In the afternoon, you move on to Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka's second capital, where you can see royal remains, Brahmanic temples built by the Cholas, and structures like the Gal Vihara and Royal Palace created by King Parakramabahu I in the 12th century.

Minneriya National Park to Kandy
You'll head out early with a packed breakfast to Minneriya National Park in the Higurakgoda District for a jeep safari where you might see elephants and other wildlife in their natural surroundings. After the safari, you transfer to Kandy for a cultural show later in the evening before staying overnight there.

Kandy City Tour
Following breakfast, your Kandy city tour includes the Dalada Maligawa, the Temple of the Holy Tooth Relic and the most important Buddhist site in the world. Built in the 16th century, it holds the sacred Tooth Relic of Buddha that arrived from India's Kalinga region in the 4th century AD, now kept under a golden canopy. You'll also check out the Royal Peradeniya Botanical Gardens and the Kandy City Center for shopping at gem shops and batik stores.

Kandy to Nuwara Eliya
After breakfast, you'll drive about 2 hours 30 minutes to Nuwara Eliya, often called 'Little England'. Along the way, you stop at a tea factory and plantation to learn how Sri Lanka produces its famous tea. Nuwara Eliya sits at 6,182 feet above sea level and is known as the garden city of Asia for its cool climate and beautiful scenery. You'll explore Lake Gregory and Hakgala Botanical Garden in the afternoon.

Nuwara Eliya to Colombo
You drive back to Colombo, Sri Lanka's main commercial center. The city has over one million people spread across fifteen districts, with three key areas: Fort (the business hub), Pettah (a busy market zone), and Cinnamon Gardens with its nice homes and upscale shops. You'll do a city tour with plenty of shopping options before your overnight stay.
