Itinerary
- Day 1
Athens
Your Local Host meets you when you land in Athens and gets you to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day however you like, whether that's resting up or wandering around the lively capital. By evening, join your Travel Director for dinner at a local restaurant in one of Athens' historic areas. You'll try some local specialities and start getting to know the other travellers on the trip.

 - Day 2
Kalambaka
This morning you can either see Athens' ancient sites with a Local Expert or walk through the Plaka neighbourhood with your Travel Director, depending on what interests you more. After that, head to Thermopylae to visit the Leonidas Monument, which honours King Leonidas and the Spartan warriors who made their legendary stand here in 480 B.C. From there, continue south to Kalambaka for dinner back at your hotel.

Meteora
Head to Meteora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where huge rock formations shoot up from the landscape. Your Local Expert takes you to one of the ancient monasteries built on top of these rocks and you get views over the Peneios Valley. The rest of the day is yours to do what you want, whether that's hiking the nature trails or checking out the Natural History Museum at your own pace.

Delphi - Olympia
Travel south and stop at Mount Parnassus' foothills. Your Local Expert leads you up the Sacred Way of Delphi, passing the Parian marble Treasury of the Athenians and the well-preserved Polygonal Wall on your way. You'll reach the Temple of Apollo, where the Oracle gave her mysterious prophecies for 14 centuries. After that, continue to Olympia and have dinner at your hotel.

Olympia
Spend the day exploring Ancient Olympia, the legendary site where the Ancient Olympic Games started in 776 B.C. in honour of Zeus. You'll see the ruined Temple of Zeus, the athletes' gymnasium, and the Ancient Stadium with its arched entrance. Stand at the actual stone starting line of the sprint track and take your own photo. Later this evening, a local chef puts on a cooking demonstration showing how to make classic Greek dishes, and you'll eat what gets prepared.

Nafplio - Athens
Leave Olympia and start heading back toward Athens. Stop at the ruined city of Mycenae to walk through the Lion Gate, see the royal beehive-tombs, and look at the massive Cyclopean stones. Then go to the town of Nafplio where Maria and her daughter teach you ancient hand-weaving techniques during a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER Experience. From there, drive along the Saronic Gulf shores, pass through the Corinth Canal that separates the Peloponnese from mainland Greece, and arrive in Athens for a hearty Greek dinner.
