There are those trips that resonate and you are glad you did them, and this round trip through Nepal is definitely one of them. I can highly recommend it! Entering Nepal is very straightforward and quick, but you should find out how to do it beforehand and have already completed the visa on arrival application online. Ram, who accompanied us for most of the trip and was always available for us at any time, was already waiting for us at the airport. We were driven to the hotel where we spent two nights. The hotel was fine if you don't have too high expectations. Exploring Kathmandu is super interesting. This applies to the "temple tour" on the second day as well as to the independent exploration of Thamel - the lively tourist district and even more so to the sunrise behind the Nagarkot viewpoint - breathtakingly beautiful! Our guide explained so much: from the Hindu and Buddhist temples and their history, to the Himalayas, the mountains and their significance, to political and social issues of the present day: we learned a lot. The journey to Chitwan was then - like all other car journeys - an adventure in itself: the worst roads, a lot of traffic, 3 hours for 100 km and road users who drive VERY differently than in Europe. So I would strongly advise against driving yourself, we were very happy to have a good and level-headed driver, this also gave us the opportunity to see a lot during the trip and also to ask our guide a lot of background information. The jungle in Chitwan, the jungle walks and trips, the canoe trip were the next experience. Elephants, crocodiles, marabou and many other animals up close and the intense green of the jungle - fantastic. We found the hotel there very good. Another highlight was Lumbini - the birthplace of Buddha. You could feel and experience the spirituality of the place. We also found the hotels here and in the next stop Pokhara to be good. On the way to Pokhara, the "castle" Rani Mahal and the associated river valley was another highlight, as was the second sunrise tour in Pokhara - the tourist capital of Nepal. In summary, I can say that I have never experienced such authentic, approachable and never intrusive friendliness and helpfulness as in Nepal. This was the case with our guide and the driver, but also in the restaurants and on the street. But not only that, the tour is super interesting, educational, diverse, offers so many cultural highlights and unique nature. I am grateful for my personal highlight - the sunrise behind the Himalayas! After so much praise, one more caveat: the tour also has its strenuous parts, with lots of walking and steps to climb. You should therefore be a good walker and have a certain level of fitness.
