- Day 1
Kathmandu
You'll be met at Kathmandu airport and driven to your hotel for the day. This is your time to recover from travel, though if you're up for it, the Thamel marketplace is right there to explore with its mix of shops and local vendors. Your guide will catch up with you in the evening to go over what's coming up on the trip.

- Day 2
Kathmandu
Today covers Kathmandu's main UNESCO sites. You'll start with Swayambhunath Temple and Boudhanath Stupa, checking out their distinctive architecture and Buddha paintings. These spots welcome visitors of all faiths, and you can watch prayer ceremonies if they're happening. Then it's on to Pashupatinath Temple, a significant Hindu site with hundreds of temples and shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva. The day wraps up at Patan Durbar Square, where you'll find intricate wooden carvings and detailed sculptures throughout.

Nagarkot
After breakfast in Kathmandu, you'll head to Bhaktapur Durbar Square, which is really four different squares connected together. From there you'll walk up to Changunarayan Temple, Nepal's oldest temple from the 4th century, sitting on a hillside with good views over Bhaktapur. Later you'll hike from Bhaktapur toward Nagarkot, arriving by late afternoon. You'll stay back in Kathmandu tonight after the hike.

- Day 4
Nagarkot to Chitwan
Catch the sunrise from Nagarkot viewpoint early on, then drive back to Kathmandu and continue south on a longer drive to Chitwan. The landscape changes quite a bit once you arrive there, different terrain and a different feel from Kathmandu. When you get in, you'll take a short walk down to the river to watch the sunset over the plains from there.

- Day 5
Chitwan
This day is all about wildlife in Chitwan National Park. You'll paddle down the Rapti River by canoe to see Gharials and Muggers sunning themselves on the banks. Then you're out on a safari, either by jeep or elephant, looking for one-horned rhinos and if you're lucky, the royal Bengal tiger. The park has over 650 bird species too, so there's plenty to photograph and observe.

Landmarks Chitwan National Park Rapti River - Day 6
Chitwan to Lumbini
You've got a 5 to 6 hour drive from Chitwan to Lumbini depending on traffic. Once there, you'll walk around Mayadevi Temple where Buddha was actually born, and you'll see the Ashoka Pillar next to it. There's a Baby Buddha statue with an eternal flame, and you can visit more than 10 monasteries scattered around the temple area, each built by different countries.

Lumbini to Palpa
Palpa is next, a hillside town where people come to learn about the Sen Kingdom that controlled the area for over 300 years. You'll see traditional Newari architecture in the houses there and visit Rani Mahal, the old palace of Palpa's queen. Several spots around town offer good mountain views if the weather cooperates.

Palpa to Pokhara
The drive from Palpa to Pokhara takes about four hours and is fairly pleasant with natural scenery along the way. Once you arrive, you'll start seeing the sights like Davis Falls, an underground waterfall and Nepal's deepest one (it's most impressive during monsoon season), Mahendra Cave, and Bat Cave where you can walk through and see the resident bats.

- Day 9
Pokhara
Pokhara has plenty of nature and activities to choose from. You can visit World Peace Stupa built by Nipponzan Myohoji with two levels, Buddha sculptures, and paintings. The International Mountain Museum shows climbing history and equipment from expeditions. There are also optional activities like paragliding or bungee jumping if those interest you and you're comfortable doing them.

Pokhara to Kathmandu
You'll head out early from Pokhara back to Kathmandu, either by jeep for a 6 to 7 hour drive or by plane if time is tight. Once back in Kathmandu, spend the afternoon shopping for souvenirs and handicrafts in the Thamel marketplace before your last evening.

Kathmandu
