Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arrival at Kilimanjaro

    You'll arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport where an Altezza Travel representative will be waiting for your transfer to the hotel. After checking in, you'll have access to your room with hot water, a pool, and internet connection. Later this evening, you'll attend a briefing with the managers who'll walk you through what to expect during your climb and answer any questions before you head out.

  2. Day 2

    Nalemuru Gate to Simba Camp

    This morning you'll meet your guide and mountain crew at the hotel, then drive to Nalemuru Gate at the northern entrance of Kilimanjaro National Park. After sorting out permits and registering with the rescue service, you'll start trekking through coniferous forest on the northern slope at a moderate pace. By afternoon you'll reach Simba Camp where the crew sets up your campsite and prepares dinner.

  3. Day 3

    Simba Camp to Second Cave Camp

    After breakfast, you'll trek to Second Cave Camp over easier terrain, which takes around 3 hours. You'll have the afternoon to rest and look around the camp. Later, after lunch and a couple hours of downtime, you'll do an acclimatization hike toward Kikilewa Camp with a 100-meter elevation gain, then head back to Second Cave Camp for the night.

  4. Day 4

    Second Cave Camp to Kikilewa Camp

    Following breakfast, you'll trek toward Kikilewa Camp where you'll get nice views of Kibo Volcano if the weather cooperates. This is a lighter day for acclimatization, so you'll rest after lunch. Then you'll trek toward Mawenzi Tarn Camp. Your guide will check in with each group member about how they're doing and go over what's coming next.

  5. Day 5

    Kikilewa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Camp

    You'll start early after breakfast and trek to Mawenzi Tarn Camp at the base of Mawenzi Volcano, Kilimanjaro's second peak. After lunch and a two-hour rest, you'll do an acclimatization hike with a 200-meter altitude gain toward Mawenzi Volcano before returning to camp for dinner.

  6. Day 6

    Kikilewa Camp to Kibo Summit Camp

    The trek to Kibo Summit Camp takes you through rocky semidesert as the landscape shifts. The actual hiking isn't too difficult, but you'll keep a steady pace to save energy for tomorrow's summit push. Once you arrive at camp, you'll rest well and avoid anything strenuous while drinking lots of water before your night ascent begins.

  7. Day 7

    Kibo Summit Camp to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Camp

    You'll depart from Kibo Camp in the dark for your ascent to Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet), Kilimanjaro's summit. Each pair of climbers will have a dedicated guide watching your stamina and mental state throughout. After reaching the summit, you can hike down to the nearest glacier if you'd like. Then you'll descend back to Kibo Camp for a two-hour rest and some food before continuing down to Horombo Camp.

    Horombo Camp to Marangu Gate

    After a warm breakfast, you'll descend to Marangu Gate where Kilimanjaro National Park's exit is located. The group will get together to celebrate finishing the climb. You'll share your feedback in the guestbook and pick up your commemorative climbing certificates at the office. Then your transfer back to the hotel marks the end of your mountain experience.

    Departure

    My experience with Altezza was great. From the start communication was so easy and lightning fast. Anna answered all my questions about the climb and gear very quickly. The hotel base was very nice. My driver was waiting to pick me up from airport. The eqipment I rented was top notch. The guides were experts and very friendly. Same for porters. Food and water was plentiful . Medical checks twice a day. Transport to and from the mountain was good.Price was nice. Would highly recommend this company
