Itinerary
- Day 1
Colombo to Sinharaja
A driver will meet you at Colombo International Airport and take you directly to Sinharaja Rain Forest. After checking in and spending a couple hours to settle in and rest, you'll head out in the late afternoon for a trek through this UNESCO world heritage site. The forest is home to around 147 bird species, so there's plenty to look for as you walk through the trails.

Sinharaja to Tissamaharama
The morning starts early at 5:30 a.m. with a trek through the rain forest, then you'll return for breakfast. After that, you'll have a couple hours to yourself before driving to Tissamaharama. On the way, there's a stop at Bundala National Park where you can see over 197 bird species and various other wildlife.

Tissamaharama
Following breakfast, a bird watching safari in Lunugamvehera National Park lets you spot water birds and elephants. Later in the day, you'll visit Debara Wewa tank to look for rare species including Pheasant-tailed Jacana and Painted Storks. Lunch happens at a local restaurant during your time out.

Tissamaharama to Nuwara Eliya
After breakfast, you're driven to Nuwara Eliya in the central highlands. Once you've had lunch, you'll head to Galway's Land National Park, which is known for good bird watching. The park has around 50 species of rare migratory and native birds living among the montane ecosystems.

Nuwara Eliya to Kitulgala
Following breakfast, you'll head to Kitulgala and have a couple hours to relax there. After that, you trek to Makandawa Rain Forest, one of Sri Lanka's oldest forest reserves. This 192-hectare area is where you can find exotic and endangered endemic and migratory bird species.

Kitulgala to Kandy
After breakfast, a driver takes you to Kandy. You'll rest through the afternoon, then in the evening trek to Udawatta Kele Forest, which was once a pleasure reserve for Kandyan kings. The forest has historic paths with colonial heritage names and is good for spotting rare endemic brown-capped babblers and highland toque macaque monkeys.

Kandy to Sigiriya
Following breakfast, you transfer to Sigiriya. In the late afternoon, a short jungle trek in Habarana with an expert guide takes you through the forest where you can spot endemic Sri Lankan birds and other wildlife. Your guide will explain what you're seeing throughout the walk.

Sigiriya to Colombo/Airport
After breakfast, you're driven to Wilpattu National Park, Sri Lanka's largest national park, for a 3-hour safari. The park has the second-highest leopard density in the country and is home to 31 mammal species. Following the safari, you transfer to your hotel in Colombo or to Bandaranayake International Airport.
