  Ram Barakoti, the manager of Sherpa Expedition, has been incredibly communicative since our first contact via email in January 2023 when I initially expressed interest in doing the Everest Base Camp (EBC) trek. Two weeks before my departure, he held an online briefing and provided me with all the necessary information and details about the trek. His words of motivation, "The keys are happiness and worry-free," inspired me. However, when I arrived in Kathmandu and was ready to fly to Lukla, I encountered a setback as there were no flights due to unfavorable weather conditions. Ram then offered me the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek as an alternative. After hearing his explanation about what I could expect during the trek, I agreed. Once again, he uplifted my spirits by reminding me that "It's what it is, and it's still an adventure." Although trekking in June is not the ideal time due to the rainy season, I thoroughly enjoyed the trek and the rain itself. The breathtaking views and unforgettable experiences I encountered along the way were truly remarkable. Some of the highlights included the view from the lodge in Tadapani, the picturesque bridges, the challenging stairs, the majestic Machchhapuchhre Mountain, the trek between Machapuchare Base Camp (MBC) and ABC, and, of course, the ABC itself. Raju Mainali, my guide, took excellent care of me from the moment I arrived in Kathmandu. He is not only a fun and lively person but also very knowledgeable. From him, I learned some Nepali words and gained insights into the local culture. One of my favorite words he taught me was "Jum Jum," which means "let's go." Together with the porter, Hari, they were incredibly patient, adapting to my pace and assisting me in dealing with leeches during the trek. During meal times, we shared not only food but also stories, creating a truly enjoyable and memorable experience. Thanks to Raju and Hari, I always felt safe and never felt lonely, despite traveling solo. I knew I was in good hands. Sherpa Expedition and Trekking is a highly reliable trekking company, and I wholeheartedly recommend their services. Personally, I plan to return to Nepal and utilize their services again to fulfill my dream of completing the Everest Base Camp trek.

  Nepal has always been a place I have wanted to visit, especially due to the fact it hosts some of the tallest mountains in the world. I chose the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek because I wasn't sure my reaction to the high altitude of Everest Base Camp and also it was different. I lucked out with my trip for many reasons: small group (5 trekkers, 2 guides, 3 porters), good weather (sunny and clear mornings, no rain while walking), great guides (Ram and Lakpa took great care of us and made sure we all made it up to ABC and back with no incidents). During our trek we saw many other groups, specifically on the first few days and it surprised me that their "guides" did not keep the group together or seem to be properly pacing. The Sherpa Expedition and Trekking guides made sure we took smart breaks and typically had one person leading, the other at the back so as to not leave people behind or spread the group out too much. For me, waking up each morning getting closer and closer to ABC, seeing the sunrise gleaming off the white snowy peaks of the Annapurna range, those are images that are forever engrained on my memory (and camera). This trek has lots of stone steps, and although I consider myself physically fit, it is demanding. However, the payoff is seeing the beauty of Nepal and being removed from modern amenities like cars and other conveniences. I found the food in the tea houses good value for the money, especially Dal Bhat, which is almost an 'all you can eat' meal. Overall the trip is a great way to see the Himalayas and experience a bit of Nepalese culture.
