Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Banff to Lake Louise

Your journey starts with an evening departure from Banff heading to HI Lake Louise hostel. Once you arrive, you'll get settled into your accommodation and have time to rest up. This is your chance to prepare for the next couple of days exploring two of Canada's most visited national parks. Grab dinner if you haven't already, then turn in early since tomorrow involves quite a bit of driving and sightseeing.

    Landmarks/POIs
    Lake Louise
  2. Day 2

    Icefields Parkway - Jasper

This morning you'll head out to Lake Louise, one of the most recognizable spots in the Canadian Rockies. If conditions allow, you'll also visit Moraine Lake, which sits just a short drive away. After that, the real adventure begins as you drive the Icefields Parkway, a route that takes you through some serious mountain scenery. Along the way, you'll stop at Crowfoot Glacier, Peyto Lake, and Mistaya Canyon. Keep your eyes open for wildlife like elk, mountain goats, and bears in the distance. By evening you'll reach your wilderness hostel, which has a sauna, campfire area, and the option to join a home-cooked group dinner if you're interested.

    Included Activities

    • Visit Lake Louise
    • Visit Moraine Lake (seasonal)

  3. Day 3

    Jasper National Park to Banff

Today focuses on Jasper National Park and its glacial features. You'll start with Big Bend Lookout, then move on to Columbia Icefield for views of the vast expanse of ice. The highlight is likely the hike to the toe of Athabasca Glacier, though this depends on weather and trail conditions. After that, you'll see Sunwapta Falls and Athabasca Falls on your way south. By evening you're back in Banff where dinner awaits at Cougar Pete's Restaurant and Lookout, a fitting end to your national parks tour.

This is the third time I've been asked to write a review, but it is a pleasure to re-write it once again, because our tour guide, Kiera, was wonderful. Her driving skills in the Rocky Mountains - a skill involving all manner of care and practice - are excellent. Her care for the specific wishes of those in her care was superb. Katrina spared no effort to make our trip a special memory, including taking excellent photos, showing us spots we'd never have seen otherwise, sharing all manner of history and data about the environment, and enquiring often about our lives and interests. Thank you, Kiera, for an excellent tour! Eleanor Cowan, Calgary, Alberta

I booked this tour last minute, as I had some time to spare after a work trip in Edmonton. The tour was everything I would imagine and more. Gabriel genuinely was the key to making this tour amazing, he is energetic, cares about all the travellers, and passionate about what he does. He definitely went out of his way to ensure everyone was happy and felt safe during the tour itself. It was great to be able to go to all the beautiful locations in Alberta any traveller would want to see, but not have to be surrounded by big tour buses. The bus is comfortable, the hostels were great, the company even better. Definitely, recommend this tour to anyone who wants to get the most out of a short time in Banff. I wish I had more information earlier, in which I would know there was an option for a hop-on/hop-off, to extend the stay and go towards BC. Regardless, hands down one of the best decisions to book!
