Itinerary
- Day 1Puerto MaldonadoYou'll arrive in Puerto Maldonado and get transferred to your lodge. After grabbing lunch, you head up the 35-meter Canopy Tower that's built right into a massive Lupuna Tree, which gives you a different perspective of the forest. From there you'll zip-line 190 meters through the canopy. Later in the afternoon, you take a boat out on the Madre de Dios River to look for caimans and capybaras along the banks. - Meals

- Zip-lining through the forest (190-meter zip-line with 100-meter bridge crossing)

- Day 2Sandoval LakeFollowing breakfast, you'll take a boat over to Tambopata National Reserve and then hike about 1.5 hours through rainforest trails to reach Sandoval Lake. Once you arrive, you spend the day paddling around the lake in a canoe, seeing giant otters, colorful butterflies, turtles, and various birds. You'll have time to soak in the jungle atmosphere and just relax by the water before heading back to the lodge. - Meals

- Hiking to Sandoval Lake (approximately 1.5 hours through rainforest)

- Day 3Native Family Visit and Rustic FishingEarly on you'll travel downstream on the Madre de Dios River for about an hour to meet an indigenous Ese'Eja family. They'll teach you about their ancestral culture, language, customs, and traditional dances. After lunch you go rustic fishing in the river where you might catch pictus catfish, smallmouth, armored catfish, or red eye piranha. You'll head back to the lodge for dinner. - Meals

- Day 4Parakeet Clay Lick and DepartureYou depart very early to visit the parakeet salt licks where hundreds of parakeets come daily to eat clay rich in salts and minerals. Back at the lodge by 7am, you'll have breakfast and then take the boat back to Puerto Maldonado, leaving at 10:30am. From there you'll transfer to the airport or bus station to finish your tour. - Meals
