Customer Reviews

  • Galapagos in a Nutshell reviewer 1

Disorganized and disappointing. This is not a typical tour where you are with a group of people who have the same itinerary. This "tour" is actually a series of day trips where you are with different people every day for each day trip. I could've easily booked these day trips on my own for a fraction of the price and regret joining a "tour." The order of activities did not correspond with the itinerary, and no explanation for the change was given. (ie. 3 snorkeling trips in 2 days was a bit much; I would've preferred it to be spread out more like was initially listed in the itinerary). Each guide is different from day to day, and they don't know where you're off to next or even what's included (ie. bus fare). On the day I was to go to another island, I was given a small slip with my hotel - and it was not the hotel on the itinerary - I would have liked to know in advance of the change so I could save it to my map and check reviews. Pros: snorkeling allowed to see many animals -seeing tortoises and seals and a few types of birds was nice Cons: hotels were terrible (I had 7 lizards in my room in Galapagos Dreams along with an infestation of tiny ants into all my belongings, and there were no staff at all at Grand Hostel Tintoreras - no one to ask for a towel, or to ask when I was to be picked up the next day - literally no one was here - I took a key from the front and let myself into a room) -hotel rooms were loud (could hear people in the common area, and a club next door blasting music) -when a staff member or person from Galapagos Dream Tour Desk [no idea where the company "True Ecuador Travel" came from] told me the order of activities for the day and where to meet the next guide, it was always inaccurate. When I got to a new island, there was no one there to meet me for 30 minutes. I was told snorkeling would happen at the end of the day after hotel check in so I didn't wear my bathing suit, then snorkeling would be first thing in the morning and there was nowhere to change. -there was no water to drink on the boats when snorkeling even though I asked and was told there was, so became dehydrated after many hours in the sun. -one snorkeling trip did not include towels or a wet suit - would have been nice to know in advance -vegetarian food was insufficient when lunch was included - my meal came out once everyone else had finished their meal one day, and on the boat I was given white rice and that's it. Overall - not recommended. Just go yourself to Galapagos and book your own day trips - there is always plenty of day tour operators and space in the trips so you can have more freedom that way and save money.
