Jaipur
Your journey through the Golden Triangle begins with a pickup in Jaipur, known as the Pink City for its terracotta-colored buildings. You'll head to Amber Fort first, which sits on a hilltop and offers sweeping views across the city and surrounding landscape. After exploring the fort, you'll check out Hawa Mahal, the five-story Palace of Winds with its distinctive honeycomb design of small windows. The afternoon takes you to Jal Mahal, a palace set on an island in Man Sagar Lake, then you'll visit City Palace (which still serves as a royal residence), Jantar Mantar with its collection of astronomical observation instruments from the 18th century, and Albert Hall Museum for some photographs. You'll walk through major structures including Buland Darwaza (the Gate of Magnificence), Panch Mahal (a five-story palace with no walls), and the tomb of Salim Chishti, a revered Sufi saint.
