Itinerary
- Day 1
Kigali to Volcanoes National Park
Your representative greets you at Kigali International Airport and gives you an overview of what's ahead. From there it's a drive to Ruhengeri and Volcanoes National Park. Once you settle into Fatima Hotel, you'll have dinner and get some rest before the big day tomorrow.

Volcanoes National Park to Gisenyi
After breakfast you head out for gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park. The park headquarters gives you a briefing, then you enter the jungle to find mountain gorillas. Depending on where they're located, the trek can take anywhere from 2 to 8 hours, though you'll have about an hour watching them up close. Back at the lodge for lunch, then it's a drive to Gisenyi where you'll arrive by late afternoon and check into Moriah Hill Hotel for dinner.

- Day 3
Gisenyi to Nyungwe Forest National Park
After breakfast you check out and travel to Nyungwe Forest National Park. The route takes you along the Congo Nile divide where you can see how water flows toward both the Congo and Nile rivers. You'll catch views of Lake Kivu and pass through resort towns like Kibuye and Cyangugu before reaching Nyungwe in the evening. Check into Ear Ken Berham Guest House for dinner and overnight.

- Day 4
Nyungwe Forest National Park
You'll head into Nyungwe Forest National Park with a professional guide who knows the trails well. This rainforest covers a huge area, so there's plenty to see with the right person showing you around. Your guide will point out wildlife and help you understand what makes this forest unique. The day is spent walking through the park, watching for animals and birds, and learning about the ecosystem. Bring water and wear comfortable shoes since you'll be on your feet for much of the day. The forest can be humid, so expect 68°F/20°C temperatures with moisture in the air.

- Day 5
Butare - Kigali
You'll have breakfast and check out, then head back toward Kigali with a stop in Butare along the way. There you can walk through Rwanda's largest museum to get a sense of the country's history and traditions. From there, you'll tour the royal Nyanza Palace, where Rwanda's kings actually lived, and see the traditional Inyambo cows. After that, it's on to Kigali where you'll arrive in the late afternoon, giving you time to settle in before your night flight departure.
