Arrival in Kathmandu
Land at Kathmandu airport where your representative meets you and talks through Nepalese culture during the drive to your hotel. After you get settled, your guide walks through the trip details and what to expect. Then head into Thamel where the markets buzz with activity and handicrafts line the streets. From there, it's about a 20-minute walk to Kathmandu Durbar Square to see the pagoda-style buildings with intricate carvings that go back centuries.

- Day 2
Kathmandu Sightseeing
Spend the full day visiting Kathmandu's major religious sites. Start at Pashupatinath, the largest temple complex in Nepal with its gilded roof and silver-plated walls, located 3 km northwest on the Bagmati River. Next stop is Bouddhanath, one of the world's largest stupas with a distinctive spherical mandala dome, surrounded by Tibetan Buddhist monasteries and vendors selling everything. Later you'll check out Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Nepal's oldest stupa sitting on a hillock 3 km west of the city with panoramic views and a real mix of religious traditions.

Nagarkot Sunrise and Bhaktapur
Leave Kathmandu early while it's still dark so you can reach Nagarkot in time for sunrise over the snowy mountains, watching them shift from white to golden as the light breaks. After the sunrise, take a hike to Changunarayan Temple, Nepal's oldest temple from around the 2nd century, where you'll see the intricate designs and sculptures up close. Then drive to Bhaktapur Durbar Square, one of Nepal's best-preserved heritage sites with temple details still intact, before heading back to your hotel.
