Itinerary
- Day 1
Kathmandu to Besishar
Start with an early morning drive from Kathmandu heading toward Besishar, which takes about 6 to 7 hours covering roughly 190 km. The route takes you through local villages, past farmland, alongside rivers, and you'll catch views of mountain ranges along the way. If you're on a local bus, expect some unplanned stops, though private car or jeep options are available if you want to skip those delays.

Besishar to Dharapani
After breakfast you'll begin trekking, crossing a suspension bridge and then climbing steeply up into the Manang region. Walk through Tal village where waterfalls and sandy beaches come into view, then continue through fields of barley, rice, and potatoes. From there you pass through Kodo, one of Manang valley's larger villages, cross another suspension bridge, and arrive at Dharapani by evening.

Dharapani to Chame
Trek through forest today with pine, fir, oak, and maple trees while following along a river to reach Chame, the district headquarters. The green forest surrounds you and the mountain views are notable here, including Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II, and Annapurna IV on the horizon. During the trek you'll stop at a small hot springs where you can rest for a bit.

Chame to Manang Valley
Walk through a steep, narrow valley to see Paungda Danda rock face, which is an impressive curved formation rising about 1500m from the river below. On clear days, Annapurna II shows to the south and Pisang Peak to the northeast. After taking in these views, you'll descend down to reach the Manang Valley floor.

Manang Valley to Manang
Trek along the upper trail through Upper Pisang via Geru on a route known for its views of Annapurna II, III, and IV's north face along with Gangapurna, Tilicho, and Pisang Peak. As the elevation increases, the air gets colder and drier. You'll walk through a Tibetan settlement and then visit Barge Monastery, the largest monastery in Manang, to see the local Buddhist culture.

Manang (Acclimatization Day)
This is an acclimatization day in Manang, which means you're not trekking the full distance but staying active. In the early morning, hike up to Gangapurna Lake and Base Camp for views of Annapurna III, Tilicho, Pisang and Chulu Peaks. Later, walk through Manang Village and check out its monasteries. In the afternoon, head to the Himalayan Rescue Association in Vraga village for a briefing about acute mountain sickness and how to prevent it.

Manang to Siri Kharka
Take the upper route today, which goes down to a river that you'll cross. From there, trek through coniferous forests for about 3 hours before reaching the Tibetan settlement of Khangsar. Continue for about another hour to arrive at Siri Kharka. Throughout this trek you'll have clear sightlines to Gungang Himal and Mt. Chulu.

Siri Kharka to Tilicho Base Camp
Walk an easy path through the middle of a landslides area where rock formations stand out against the landscape. Then trek upward toward Tilicho Base Camp, and from there you'll have good views of Tilicho Peak and other snow-covered mountains surrounding you.

Tilicho Base Camp to Tilicho Lake and back to Siri Kharka
Start early to beat the afternoon wind that picks up later. After a steep climb lasting about 2 to 3 hours, you'll reach Tilicho Lake, which sits at the highest elevation of any lake in the world. The large sparkling lake lies right at the foot of Tilicho Peak's north face. Spend time here taking in the views, then retrace your steps back down to Siri Kharka.

Siri Kharka to Yak Kharka
Descend to the uninhabited Khangsar village and pass by Tare Gumba, a thousand-year-old monastery on the way. Follow a rock wall down from Khangsar until you reach a bridge crossing the Thorong Khola valley. After crossing the river, hike up to a plateau to get to Yak Kharka at 4060m (13,020 ft). From this vantage point the Annapurna range spreads out before you, and you might catch sight of blue sheep or if luck is on your side, a snow leopard.

Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi
Walk uphill to Thorong Phedi, a small but busy settlement offering nice views of the surrounding mountains and terrain. Along the route you'll get your best looks at Mt. Gundang, Mt. Syagang, Thorung Peak, and Mt. Khatungkan.

Thorong Phedi to Thorong La Pass to Muktinath
This is the toughest day of your trek. You'll cross Thorong La Pass, one of the world's highest passes and the highest point of the entire journey. Wake at 3 a.m. to get an early start, then push through the cold, thin air of high altitude. The panoramic views from the pass reward your effort, stretching across Himalayan peaks northward into Tibet and showing the main Annapurna peaks behind you. After crossing, descend all the way to Muktinath, a sacred site for both Hindus and Buddhists.

Muktinath to Tatopani
Visit the Muktinath temple in the morning, then travel by car to Tatopani. Once there, head to the natural hot springs for which Tatopani is known and soak your body to relax after the demanding trek.

Tatopani to Ghorepani
Ascend toward Ghorepani by walking through the villages of Sikha and Chitre, both home to the Thakali people. Trek through terraced farmland with mountains in all directions, then move through lush forests filled with rhododendron, birch, and magnolia trees. End the day at Ghorepani, a beautiful village sitting on a ridge top.

Ghorepani to Pokhara
Get up early and climb to Poon Hill at 3,210m to watch sunrise paint the entire Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri massif, Mt Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Mt Manaslu, and the surrounding rice terraces in golden light, which is why photographers love this spot. After spending time here, trek back down to Nayapul and then drive to Pokhara for your final night.

Pokhara to Kathmandu
After breakfast, drive back to Kathmandu in a tourist bus to finish your trek. You have the option of flying back instead (a 225-minute flight, though it's not part of your package) if that works better for you. Your trek package ends once you arrive in Kathmandu.
