  1. Day 1

    Kathmandu to Pokhara

    Start with a 6-hour drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, heading through changing landscapes as you descend to this lakeside city at 914m. The road winds through varied terrain, and you'll arrive in time to settle into your hotel and explore the town a bit before evening.

  2. Day 2

    Pokhara to Jomsom to Kagbeni

    Fly from Pokhara to Jomsom (about 25 minutes) at 2700m, weather permitting. From there, trek to Kagbeni at 2810m, which takes roughly 4 hours through mountain trails. If the flight doesn't operate, you'll take a private jeep for about 9 hours instead, reaching Kagbeni by late afternoon.

  3. Day 3

    Kagbeni to Chuksang

    Trek from Kagbeni to Chuksang at 2900m over approximately 5 hours on mountain trails. You'll hike through Himalayan terrain and gain elevation gradually as you move deeper into the region. By late afternoon, you'll reach your accommodation for the night.

  4. Day 4

    Chuksang to Samar

    Head out from Chuksang and trek to Samar at 3150m in about 6 hours. The climb gets noticeably steeper as you push higher into Mustang, and the mountain scenery becomes more dramatic with each hour of hiking.

  5. Day 5

    Samar to Geling

    Trek from Samar to Geling at 3510m, taking approximately 5 hours. You'll continue ascending through the remote Upper Mustang region with fewer settlements and increasingly sparse vegetation as elevation increases.

    Geling to Ghami via Ghami La Pass

    Leave Geling and trek to Ghami at 3490m via Ghami La Pass at 3520m, roughly 5 hours total. The route crosses over this mountain pass, giving you panoramic views across the Mustang highlands before you descend slightly to reach Ghami.

    Ghami to Tsarang

    Tsarang to Lo-Manthang

    Hike from Tsarang to Lo-Manthang at 3730m, taking approximately 4 hours. You're heading to the ancient walled capital of the Kingdom of Mustang, and as you approach, the landscape shifts to reveal this remarkable historical city.

    Lo-Manthang Rest Day

    Stay put in Lo-Manthang today with no trekking scheduled. Wander through the ancient walled city on your own, checking out the monasteries, local architecture, and getting a feel for the unique culture without a guide rushing you along.

  10. Day 10

    Lo-Manthang to Ghami

    Start your return trek from Lo-Manthang back to Ghami at 3490m, about 6 hours of hiking. You'll retrace some of your uphill route, now descending through the Mustang highlands as the trek shifts toward going downhill.

    Ghami to Chuksang

    Trek from Ghami down to Chuksang at 2900m in approximately 7 hours. The longer timeframe reflects the descent distance and the accumulated fatigue from several days of trekking at higher elevations.

  12. Day 12

    Chuksang to Muktinath

    Hike from Chuksang to Muktinath at 3795m, taking about 7 hours. Even though Muktinath is higher than Chuksang, the route involves a steep climb from lower elevation. You'll reach this sacred pilgrimage site, one of the region's most important religious locations.

  13. Day 13

    Muktinath to Jomsom

    Trek from Muktinath down to Jomsom at 2713m in roughly 5 hours. This is your final descent toward the airstrip, and you'll cover significant elevation loss as you wind through the mountain trails toward lower terrain.

  14. Day 14

    Jomsom to Pokhara

    Fly from Jomsom back to Pokhara in about 25 minutes, weather permitting. If the flight cancels, a private jeep takes around 9 hours instead. After arriving in Pokhara, check into your hotel and have the evening to relax after your trek.

    Pokhara to Kathmandu

    Drive back to Kathmandu by tourist minibus from Pokhara, completing your Upper Mustang trek adventure. The return journey takes you back through the same varied terrain, and you'll arrive in Kathmandu by evening.

  • Visa
    • Unfortunately we cannot offer you a visa application service. Whether you need a visa or not depends on your nationality and where you wish to travel. Assuming your home country does not have a visa agreement with the country you're planning to visit, you will need to apply for a visa in advance of your scheduled departure.
    • Here is an indication for which countries you might need a visa. Please contact the local embassy for help applying for visas to these places.
  • Payment information
    • For any tour departing before February 6th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after February 6th, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with First Environmental Trekking. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
    • Some departure dates and prices may vary and First Environmental Trekking will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
