Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Cusco

    Land at Cusco and head to your hotel for check-in. Around 1:20 PM you'll meet up for a walking tour through the historical center. The Cathedral holds an impressive art collection, and from there you'll see Qorikancha temple where the Incas worshipped the Sun God. After that, the tour takes in several archaeological sites including Sacsayhuaman, Kenko, Puka-Pukara, and Tambomachay before finishing at Plaza de Armas around 6:00 PM.

  2. Day 2

    Sacred Valley

    After breakfast, depart around 8:00 AM for Pisac, which is roughly 45 minutes by private vehicle. You'll walk through the Inca architecture and platforms there, then browse the traditional market for souvenirs. By noon you're heading to Urubamba for a buffet lunch with Peruvian dishes. The afternoon brings you to Ollantaytambo fortress, a major military, agricultural, and religious stronghold that dominated the Sacred Valley.

  3. Day 3

    Salkantay Trek Begins

    Early morning pickup for a 4-hour bus ride to the trailhead. You'll stop in Mollepata at 2,900m for a break of 20-30 minutes, then continue to Challacancha where porters and horses are waiting. The first hike takes you to Soraypampa at 3,900m where base camp gets set up with views of Salkantay's snow peak. Following lunch at camp, you hike to Humantay Lake at 4,200m and return to Soraypampa around 5:00 PM for dinner.

  4. Day 4

    Salkantay Pass to Chaullay

    Start with breakfast, then begin a 3-hour hike to Salkantay Pass at 4,600m, the trek's highest elevation. From there, you head toward Wayracpunku where lunch is served. The landscape shifts into high jungle filled with massive trees covered in bromeliads and orchids hanging over streams. This 5-hour walk leads to Chaullay camp at 2,900m where dinner and rest are waiting.

  5. Day 5

    Chaullay to Santa Teresa

    Around 6:30 AM you'll have breakfast, then trek toward Sahuyaco (La Playa) at 2,080m for lunch. From there, transport takes you to Santa Teresa at 1,550m to set up base camp. After settling in, soak at the Cocalmayo Hot Spring, then enjoy a traditional Peruvian dinner before rest.

  6. Day 6

    Santa Teresa to Aguas Calientes

    After breakfast, zip-liners head out for that activity while others go to the Hidroelectrica meeting point. The group comes back together for lunch. Later, there's relaxation time before a 3-hour jungle hike along the railway where you'll pass beautiful waterfalls, ecological farms, and local wildlife. You reach Aguas Calientes around 4:00 PM, spend the night in a hostel, and have dinner at a local restaurant with time to walk around town after dark.

  7. Day 7

    Machu Picchu

    Very early breakfast at the hotel, then take the bus up to Machu Picchu citadel. After about 25 minutes of climbing, the sunrise becomes visible. A brief introduction covers the citadel's history and architecture as one of the 7 wonders of the world. Those interested can climb Huayna Picchu for 1.5 hours to get cloud-level views (you'll handle your own guide for this). The guided tour shows you the main constructions, temples, and surrounding landscape, followed by free time to explore. You return to Aguas Calientes in the afternoon for lunch and relaxation or town exploration, then take the train and bus back to Cusco.

    Cusco Departure

    After breakfast at your hotel, the day is yours. You can relax or go shopping. Your travel assistant can take you to the local market and baby alpaca market if you want souvenirs, sweaters, typical hats, and other items. When it's time, you'll get a transfer to the airport for your flight.
