Itinerary
- Day 1
Kathmandu to Besishar
Start with an early morning drive from Kathmandu heading toward Besishar, a journey of about 190 km taking 6-7 hours by local bus. You'll pass through villages and farmland with rivers running alongside, and the road gives you glimpses of mountain ranges in the distance. Traffic can cause delays, so if you want to avoid the wait times and transfers, a private car or jeep is available for an extra fee.

- Day 2
Besishar to Dharapani
After breakfast, cross a bridge and then start climbing steeply as you enter Manang region. The trail takes you through Tal village where waterfalls and sandy beaches come into view. Walk through fields of barley, rice and potatoes, pass Kodo village which is one of the largest settlements here, cross a suspension bridge and climb the stone Kani before arriving at Dharapani.

Dharapani to Chame
Trek through thick forests of pine, fir, oak and maple while following alongside a river toward Chame, the main town in the Manang district. The green forest surrounds you throughout, and you'll get clear views of Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II and Annapurna IV (7,525m/24,705 ft). Later, stop at a hot spring for a short break and to relax.

Chame to Pisang
Walk through a steep and narrow valley to get your first real look at Paungda Danda rock face, a curved rock wall that rises 1500m straight up from the river below. Annapurna II shows clearly to the south and Pisang Peak sits to the northeast. From there, descend down to the Manang valley floor and settle in at a guesthouse or tea house for the night.

Pisang to Manang
Take the upper path through upper Pisang via Geru for views of the north face of Annapurna II, III, IV, Gangapurna, Tilicho and Pisang Peak. As you climb higher, you'll notice the air getting colder, drier and harsher on your body. The route passes through a Tibetan settlement and ends at Barge Monastery, the largest one in Manang, where you can learn about Buddhist culture here.

Manang Acclimatization
This is an acclimatization day, so your body can adjust to the higher altitude. Early on, hike to Gangapurna Lake and Base Camp, spending your time looking at views of Annapurna III, Tilicho, Pisang and Chulu Peaks. Wander around Manang Village and check out its monasteries. In the afternoon, head to the Himalayan Rescue Association in Vraga village for a talk about altitude sickness, what symptoms to watch for and how to prevent it.

- Day 7
Manang to Khangsar
Continue onward from Manang toward Tilicho Lake. Head out through the western gates and follow the trail down to a stream. Cross the Khangsar Khola on a bridge positioned below Khangsar, then climb up to the village. This is a traditional Tibetan-style settlement and people call it the last village of Nepal.

Khangsar to Tilicho Base Camp
From Khangsar, walk on a large path that passes by a Gompa monastery. The route climbs on a newer path toward a high ridge where you'll have some choices on which way to go. The new path is the one to use, heading toward the ridge line. Once you reach the high crest, descend on switchbacks through scree slopes to a side valley with a brook and Tilicho Base Camp at 4,200 meters (13,779 ft) on the other side.

Tilicho Base Camp to Tilicho Lake
Leave around 6 AM early to avoid strong winds. The trek from Base Camp to Tilicho Lake takes roughly 3-4 hours. When you get there, you'll find a cold and barren place that people claim is the highest lake in the world. After spending time at the lake, head back the same way to Base Camp since there's nowhere to stay at Tilicho Lake itself.

Tilicho Base Camp to Yak Kharka
Coming down from Base Camp, stay on the higher ground and follow a track that runs about 400 meters above Khangsar village. Pass through ruins of the old settlement. Then take an unmarked path down to the river and cross it using an old log bridge between Gumsang and Yak Kharka.

- Day 11
Yak Kharka to Thorung Phedi
From Yak Kharka, climb step by step up to a ridge before dropping down to where the Marsyangdi River starts. Cross the river using a covered wooden bridge. Make a short climb up the mountain path on the correct bank, then follow a narrow path across an unstable scree slope before descending to Thorung Phedi.

- Day 12
Thorung Phedi to Muktinath
Climb steeply to High Camp and keep going upward to reach Thorung La Pass, the highest point of your entire trek. The pass has several memorials and prayer flags with a tea house where you can stop. From there, look down at bird's-eye views of the Damodar and Annapurna Peaks. Then descend steeply through Charabu village to get to Muktinath, the Holy Land, where you'll stay overnight at a tea house.

Muktinath to Pokhara
Drive from Muktinath down to Pokhara (720m/2,362 ft). The route passes through the deepest canyon in the world, running between Mt. Annapurna and Mt. Dhaulagiri with several snow-covered peaks visible throughout the drive.

Pokhara
Spend a full day in Pokhara at 720m (2,362 ft). The town sits between Mt. Annapurna and Mt. Dhaulagiri with several snow-topped peaks showing in the distance around you.

Pokhara to Kathmandu
Head back to Kathmandu early in the morning. The drive takes about 7 hours as you pass through the surrounding countryside and hills.
