    Itinerary Image 1
  2. Day 2

    Umbwe Gate to First Camp

After breakfast, the drive to Umbwe Gate takes you through villages where coffee and banana plantations dot the landscape. Once at the Parks Gate, you'll meet your guide and porters, sign in, then start hiking. The 5-hour trek moves through rainforest along a ridge between the Lonzo and Umbwe Rivers, with deep gorges and occasional views of Kilimanjaro rising in the distance.

    Meals
    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    Included Activities

    • Transfer to Umbwe Gate
    • Guided hike through rainforest to first camp (5 hours)
    • Park entry
    Landmarks
    Umbwe Gate
    Mount Kilimanjaro
  3. Day 3

    Umbwe Ridge to Barranco Camp

You'll hike for 6 hours as the forest gradually opens up and becomes rockier, with moss-covered trees still visible around you. The narrow ridge offers views the whole way while Kilimanjaro gets closer and higher ahead. Terrain flattens out as you near Barranco Valley, then you descend to Barranco Camp below the Breach and Great Barranco Wall. The sunset from camp is memorable, and you'll sleep at 3,950m/12,960ft.

    Meals
    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    Included Activities

    • Guided hike from Umbwe Ridge to Barranco Camp (6 hours)
    Landmarks
    Barranco Valley
    Great Barranco Wall
  4. Day 4

Barranco Camp to Arrow Glacier Camp

After breakfast, the hike toward Lava Tower crosses steep, rocky ground with Mt. Meru visible through the clouds. From Lava Tower, you'll head toward the Western Breach for a demanding climb to Arrow Glacier Camp at 4,800m/15,750ft. This is a tough day when altitude sickness can start showing up. Camp sits on rock and scree with extreme cold and only sparse views of the landscape.

    Meals
    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    Included Activities

    • Guided hike from Barranco Camp to Lava Tower
    • Guided climb through Western Breach to Arrow Glacier Camp
    Landmarks
    Lava Tower
    Mount Meru
    Western Breach
  5. Day 5

Arrow Glacier Camp to Crater Camp

This is the hardest day of the climb. Starting from Arrow Glacier Camp, you'll scramble up steep scree and rocky terrain through the Western Breach to the crater floor at 5,700m/18,700ft, taking about 5 hours. After snowfall, the route gets icy and you might need ice axes or ski sticks. Reaching the crater rim, you'll see snow, glaciers, the Northern Ice Fields, and Furtwängler Glacier. Crater Camp at the crater rim becomes your camp for the night inside the volcano.

    Meals
    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    Included Activities

    • Guided climb from Arrow Glacier Camp through Western Breach to crater floor
    • Guided walk to Crater Camp at crater rim

  6. Day 6

Crater Camp to Uhuru Peak to Millennium Camp

Tea and biscuits come around 4:00 AM before the 2-hour snow ascent to Uhuru Peak. Time at the summit is short because of extreme cold and exhaustion, but reaching it feels unforgettable. After descending to Barafu Camp for a quick rest (3 hours down), you'll continue through moorland and forest to Millennium Camp at 3,100m/10,170ft, taking 7 to 8 hours total. Dinner and water are included.

    Meals
Breakfast (Tea and biscuits at camp before ascent), Lunch, Dinner

  7. Day 7

Millennium Camp to Mweka Gate to Arusha

Following a well-deserved breakfast, the final 5-hour walk (3 hours actual hiking) takes you to Mweka Gate through the park. You'll sign the register and get your summit certificate here, golden if you reached Uhuru Peak or green if you reached Stella Point. Walking through Mweka Village takes about an hour and the path is usually muddy. A hot lunch happens before heading back to Arusha to celebrate with a proper hot shower.

    End point
