Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arrival in Kathmandu

    Your flight lands at Tribhuvan International Airport where someone meets you and drives you to your hotel in Boudha. After settling in, you'll sit down with the trek leader who'll go over what's ahead and answer any questions on your mind.

  2. Day 2

    Bhaktapur

    Following breakfast, a guide takes you through the old town of Bhaktapur to see the art, local culture, and food traditions. Bhaktapur Durbar Square gets visited, well-known for its yogurt made there. The rest of the day is free for resting and getting yourself ready for the trek that begins soon.

  3. Day 3

    Bhaktapur to Pokhara

    You'll ride a tourist bus from Bhaktapur to Pokhara, around 6 to 7 hours with scenery of mountains, rice paddies, and the countryside rolling past. Once in Pokhara, the hotel check-in gives you views of Phewa Lake and Himalayan peaks like Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhare, and the Annapurna range.

  4. Day 4

    Pokhara to Ulleri

    A 2-hour drive takes you to Nayapul where the trek officially starts. From there, you hike 4 hours through stairs and varied terrain to Hile and Tikhedhunga, then push on for another 2 hours climbing to Ulleri (1525m). Mountain lodges are your accommodation here. Today covers roughly 4 to 5 hours of walking with 1209m elevation gain and 228m descent.

  5. Day 5

    Ulleri to Ghorepani

    Trekking uphill from Ulleri brings you to Ghorepani, a village that used to serve traders but now hosts many trekkers. Small shops and stalls here sell local products and crafts if you want to browse. Stay in the upper part to catch panoramic views of Annapurna South and Nilgiri. The day involves about 5 to 6 hours of hiking with 1209m of ascent and 347m descent.

  6. Day 6

    Poon Hill and Tadapani

    Wake early and climb the steep path to Poon Hill (3210m) for sunrise over the Himalayas. Over 20 peaks come into view including Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, plus sights toward Mustang and Pokhara. Grab coffee or hot chocolate at the top, then continue hiking to Tadapani lodge. The Poon Hill section takes 1 to 2 hours, then 4 to 5 more hours get you down and back up to Tadapani.

  7. Day 7

    Tadapani to Chhomrong

    Coming down from Tadapani on steep terrain through thick rhododendron forest, the landscape opens to terraced fields. Waterfalls rush past and a suspension bridge crosses toward Chhomrong, a village nestled against the Annapurna massif. Most people here belong to the Gurung ethnic group. This day requires 4 to 5 hours and covers 600m elevation gain plus 1000m descent.

  8. Day 8

    Chhomrong to Dovan

    Leaving Chhomrong, the trail descends to a swaying bridge across Chhomrong Khola. After crossing, trekking continues through rhododendron and oak forest up to Khuldighar, then pushes forward for nearly 5 more hours to Dovan. The full day takes 4 to 5 hours with 870m gain and 371m descent.

  9. Day 9

    Dovan to Machhapuchhre Base Camp

    The path goes through bamboo forest and climbs to Deurali before walking for about 5 hours total to Machhapuchhre Base Camp. Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) peak dominates the views here, along with Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gandharvachuli, and Gangapurna. Today brings 1779m of elevation gain and only 146m descent over 4 to 5 hours.

    Annapurna Base Camp

    Trekking to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) puts you in the Annapurna Sanctuary where snow boulders melt into small streams and vegetation fades. The 360-degree panoramic views take in the steep south face of Annapurna and other major peaks including Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, and Hiunchuli. The hike covers 4 to 5 hours with 385m ascent and 1347m descent.

  11. Day 11

    Annapurna Base Camp to Chhomrong

    Most of the hiking today goes downhill with beautiful landscapes to keep morale up. You'll return to Chhomrong by day's end. The trek takes 5 to 6 hours and involves 427m elevation gain but primarily 1597m of descent.

  12. Day 12

    Chhomrong to Ghandrung

    Hiking to Ghandrung takes about 5 hours through another beautiful village where Gurung residents offer lodging to visitors. The landscape here has its own particular charm. Today totals around 1090m of ascent and 1068m of descent.

  13. Day 13

    Ghandrung to Pokhara

    The trek ends as you hike back to Nayapul from Ghandrung, a 5-hour walk that marks the finish line. After returning to Pokhara by vehicle, the rest of the day is yours. Shop at the lakeside, take a boat out on Phewa Lake, hike up to World Peace Pagoda, or just rest and recover from the trekking.
