Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Banjul
Your tour assistant picks you up when you land in Banjul and takes you to the hotel. Once you're settled, you'll get an orientation to help you understand the city layout and what to expect during your stay.

Banjul City Tour
After breakfast, a guide takes you through Banjul city on foot. You'll walk through local markets, stop by museums, check out batik factories where they make traditional textiles, and pass by various monuments and sites around town.

Abuko Nature Reserve and Brikama Carving Center
You head out to Abuko Nature Reserve, Gambia's main nature reserve where trails cut through jungle habitat. Keep an eye out for monkeys, chimpanzees, and exotic birds, though you might also spot crocodiles, lions, or antelopes depending on the day. After exploring, you'll stop at Brikama village to walk through its wood carving market before heading back to Banjul.

Juffureh
Today you travel to Juffureh, the birthplace of Alex Haley's ancestors and the inspiration for his novel Roots. Grandma Karafa Kinteh, the oldest living relative of Alex Haley, welcomes visitors to share stories about the family's history.

Gambia River Cruise
You board a boat for a cruise down the Gambia River where dolphins often show up along the way. The boat stops at a Mandingo Village so you can see how people live there and catch a mini cultural festival. Your route passes through several African villages and takes you past historical sites like James Island, the Albreda Slave market, and Juffure.

Leisure Day
